BBC Iplayer - The Rugby Codebreakers.

Quite interesting documentary about the Welsh union players who came North to play league, and Halifax get a decent sized mention in the middle too.

Really enjoyed that, and the clip in the Wigan boardroom (Duke and Duke) (Statler and Waldorf) was brilliant. Nice to see Freeman and Dixon get a mention, my old man still says that Freeman playing the same position as Boston in that era was very unlucky, nowadays the international teams would just play him on the other wing, and find room for both, but it just wasn’t done then.
There were quite a few names worthy of mention too, plenty of which we saw at Thrum Hall, but i suppose a journalist/reporter has to edit it down.
If you picked all the Welsh greats across the eras in one side, it’d give any Rugby team of any code a run for their money.

They certainly DID have to edit it down! My interview for it lasted an hour and mentioned lots of other Fax players. We've actually used 120 Welsh-born players since 1895 and several are in our Hall of Fame.
