From a neutral perspective, an enjoyable game. Thought Halifax competed well, but Widnes had the edge by getting the ball out wide with good finishing. Halifax's pack weren't dominated and put in a good shift, and will be a great foundation to build on for the future. Lyons looks a good prospect for Widnes, and Ah Van and Inu were difficult to stop given any space to work with. Score flattered Widnes a tad, but they were worthy winners over the 80 mins.
Not a lot between the teams to be honest . A running half back for next year that causes the opposition to pause and with the young guns gaining in experience I don't think the team will be far off exit year We might not like dual reg but will maher has put in a very good shift this year . Had to laugh at the commentator " slow motion or no motion " ref Scott. Unfortunately it's becoming more and more obvious.
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."― Albert Einstein "Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense." ― Gertrude Stein "Don't believe everything you read on the internet" ― Abraham Lincoln

Your username and summary pretty much hits the nail on the head for us. We need new blood in key positions.
Halifax have done very well indeed to make the top 4 but I can't help but think the middle 8s for us are very much an anticlimax - lots of huff and puff, promises of things to come etc and anticipation of what the added finances will bring.... Then nothing.
Sadly RM does not have the capacity to change things with the team, that to the rest of us are absolutely apparent... There are zero plans for any new HBs and I doubt many of the key areas already highlighted in need of attention will be addressed as I made to believe we will take to the field next year with pretty much what you see now....

As you know, always a question of spending. Do we have the option to push the boat out a bit more? If not then fair enough, but if yes, should we take a bit of a gamble or play safer and just paddle along.
When reading these posts I a sense that everyone except RM can see where we need to strengthen, half back Murrel gets a lot of stick, too slow, unfit, but yet the guy is nominated for player of the Championship! Yes he needs a quality partner but give the guy credit for what must be another very good year, or are the other 200 + players in Championship really bad. On the same vein how did Butler not get a nomination. None of us outside the immediate club circle really know what is going on with current and future planning, yes the BoD could be a little more transparent, as it is frustrating when there is mushroom management . Even though I am 9000 miles away I still have a keen interest and often stay awake until the small hours to listen to any commentary that are aired for my rugby team. Unfortunately the game was not available to me on tv live yesterday, I just had to be content with jeering at my friends Lancashire lights out at the Vitality Bash.
Hope without planning is about as futile as waiting for a harvest without planting

Up the Fax and Yorkshire all the way
Who nominates the players for the awards ? If it comes from within the club , then that could explain the nomination.
A fantastic effort by Fax. All Widnes tries went through our left hand side and it makes one wonder if the tough tackling Tyrer would have made a difference. Brandan Moore was my MOM, and definitely made a difference when he came on after a slow start. Leeds next up and really looking forward to it. Last time we played them was in SL in 2003. Anyone remember the score?
Just watching the game, showing on Setanta under e guise of Cas v Hudd! As good a winger as Salty is he got beaten too easily. I was surprised Widnes did not target him more. All too often our other defenders were found lacking in closing down the man and allowed lay offs. Do fax need a tackle coach? Had the first try not been disallowed could have been a different game, but all too often ran out of ideas , seems as though scared to get over the whitewash, going for one man glory and not looking for an opening. Overall full time pro fitness showed the difference. Overall I do not think The Fax were embarrassed.
