I think if Leeds are going to get back up there again, the only way to punch above the salary cap and compete in WCCs really is to retain locally produced lads who are a bit less financially motivated. It’s not like a pro SL player is paid peanuts, but I do understand the attraction of NRL of course.
We can’t complain too much when we source juniors from far and wide, I’m sure Cas, Wakey, Halifax would prefer to hang on to more than they do. We are “bigger fish” in this pond but NRL clubs are much stronger than we are.

I know exactly what Warrington offered, and it was a lot more than Leeds, but less than Leigh. I’ve got a feeling it will be an early release. I was talking to Jack in the Crown Casino in Melbourne, and he was saying he’d love to love and play out there.

It’s not the first time there’s been a link with Walker and Aus, and SMTM is proactive of course. He needs another couple of years to physically mature at least.

I’m a fan of Walker, but at moment he is miles away from being good enough to play in NRL, particularly his passing.

He needs to try and be one of the better FB’s in SL first.

Nailed on I'd have thought if your info is correct and we can pick up a fee in the process. Jack has the raw talent but won't be the finished article even when his current deal expires. We might as well sign a player further along the development curve or, if other positions have a higher priority, go with Golding and respond to those more urgent needs.

Agree with this. Full back is certainly the key position is Australia and there are plenty of very good ones over there. Imo opinion he would be best advised to spend 4/5 years becoming the best FB in SL and establishing himself as England no.1. Lets be honest he is miles away from both of those yet. Of course good luck to him if he goes i always admire players willing to back their ability and try out the best comp.
