I'm not exactly sure of the numbers, but if we go up I don't think there will be too much of a leap in central funding next year compared to what we got in 2018.

I'm pretty sure that's correct, though you'd maybe expect some rise in attendances should we go up and maybe a bit more from the corporate fans, though come next year they may well have other priorities. If it all rolls through to the retail side (shop, lotteries, sales on matchday etc) then, whilst I doubt it's going to be massive, we could get a bit of a boost.
Of course, management might screw that by putting prices up too much..

I must admit Iwas gutted when we went hybrid but I was wrong...

I think hybrid is the way to go again. Some of our part timers are far better then the journeymen that failed to hit the top 4. You could also see some part time teams had more balanced and talented squads.

Moving key players like EM to full time has to be a no brainer, same with Keyes however.

I think we're on 75k central funding this year, sure it doubles to £150k for the bottom of the championship.

I'd hope that next year would see an increase in our average attendance with a few more clubs being close by combined with the good work that Mick and the lads have done with the live streaming getting people's interest back into watching the team.

But I think it's sensible to keep the hybrid style of recruitment as it means we get a larger talent pool to sign from as well as paying out less over all in wages.

This is case and point for me. High end part time championship players will have had offers to go to SL but doesn't work out financially for them if they have a good job outside of rugby. Dom Brambani was a good example of it. Definitely need to have part timers too for me if they can improve the squad

It's been said before, but Sheffield's fall from grace after going full time wasn't just the added expenses. A large part of it too were that when they were flying quite high, a lot of their best players were part time. When they went full time, those players who didn't want to leave their jobs left the club and ended up elsewhere (Brambani was one of them), meaning Sheffield actually got worse on the pitch.

I don't see the benefits of turning away part time players who don't want to be full time, if they improve your squad and you can manage the training properly. Certainly not outside of Super League anyway.

Totally agree about the Sheffield situation, the extra they were offering for full time was not good either, so a raft of them left. To be fair their situation was again the problem of one backer promising the world. Remember when they said they were probably the only club who could afford Greg Inglis haha

JUdging by the performances it seems that we would be better off dumping some of the full timers and replacing them with part timers

Our fulltime squad of 2016 was a disappointment. It's clear that fulltime doesn't automatically mean better. Other factors are important. I doubt we can afford a fulltime squad anyway.

Re: Players for next year : Tue Aug 07, 2018 10:07 am
Think adding a few more F/T players won't hurt us. A gradual rebuild is required and if we ever want to get into SL, we need to be at a stage where at least the majority of the squad is FT. Jumping from fully PT to FT doesn't work.

We seem to be rumoured with some very good players (admittedly many won't come off, but it seems we're looking at the right player, (Hytchox, Dwyer, Wesbter) and more importantly, areas where we look like we need strengthening.

I think most of the squad are signed up next season, so we have some continuity there, and we're young so we'll only improve. I think Lee Smith. Ashley Gibson Dalton Grant, and Chisholm (along with the loanees) are the only first teamers OOC. I'd sign Chisholm, look to see if we can get better than Gibson & Smith, if not sign them up for another year.

Next year i'd like us to see line up something like the below and i think we would have a good crack at the championship (provided we don't love up the rest of the season):

1. Pickersgill/Mcnally
2. Hytchcox?new winger
3. New Centre/Gibson
4. Oakes
5. Ryan
6. Lilley/Keyes
7. Chisholm
8. Crossley
9. new hooker
10. Bustin
11. Laithwaite
12. New second-rower
13. Minchella

14. Flanagan
15. Peltier
16. James Green/New Prop
17. Matty Garside

We have the foundations of a really food squad, just a couple of good additions needed.
