There seems to be something not right with the whole situation. Why have Cas taken so long to sack him? I’m sure many will applaud their morals but it is a poor business decision.

I can’t work out why Wigan are talking to him. It looks as though he will end up with a 2 year bannso will miss this season and next. To line up a player for 2020 on the back of 2 years out of the game seems odd to me too.

It’s a tradegy. ZH is a sensational player but I still seriously tainted goods. I’d be surprised if Wigan took the risk.

Did I imagine then Wigan resigning Gareth Hock?

Re: Hardaker Sacked : Wed Feb 21, 2018 6:29 pm
I absolutely think we (Cas) have done the right thing.
Hardaker has proven time and time again that he can’t help pressing the self-destruct button.
Assault, homophobia, class A, getting hammered on England duty (plus lots of other rumoured indiscretions) - every time he says he’ll change; every time he screws up again. It’s not a matter of if he can keep himself out of trouble, but how long he can go without doing something else completely idiotic. I’m afraid he just can’t be trusted to behave himself for longer than a season or so.
Having someone like that at a club, regardless of his ability, just isn’t worth the inevitable problems he will cause. He’s no longer a kid who made a silly mistake, but a bloke in his mid-twenties who, time after time, decides to do things that damage himself and the club he is playing for.
On a personal level I worry for him if he’s banned for two years. Without the focus of professional RL (and at least the time it takes up) he’s got even less reason to keep on the straight and narrow. Indeed, you only need to bump into him in one of his favourite clubs and it’s clear that he’s still making bad decisions. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he was in prison by the end of his suspension. I hope organisations such as State if Mind can support him, but to be honest there is only so much that can be done for someone so intent on ruining their life.
On a personal level I hope he can sort himself out, but past experience suggests this is very unlikely. As a Cas supporter, I’m glad he’s not going to be at my club the next time he inevitably screws up.

Letting one of your best assets go for nothing and letting a direct rival have that asset for nothing..... get yourself on the dragons den mate

Do Cas not have the right to keep his registration i.e. What Leigh did with Chase.

It looks like Leeds were the ones to do some good business here, I wonder if Cas have any claim against them ?

He’s not an asset. He’s an absolute liability who can’t be trusted and who is likely to screw up at any given moment.
I’ve never known a player continue to be employed by a club during a WADA suspension. Even Wigan sacked Hock during his suspension and they offered him a new contract at the end of it - he didn’t continue to be employed by the club!

Why would they? Nothing to do with Leeds since the move was made permanent mid season last year.

He’s not an asset, just the most proven full back in the league that one of the biggest teams in the league has signed...... not worth a penny
