Toulouse v Salford could be the tie of the round on Thursday........

TBH I could see any of the 3 happening especially the Toulouse one which I couldn’t believe you were so keen to write off (even if they lost I didn’t see it being by plenty like you thought).....but all 3 happening is a little surprising.

It's a pity that the mid-8s bring such instability as the comp itself is pretty compelling.

If they’ve taught us anything then it’s that we should always have some sort of on-field Promotion/Relegation instead of it being decided in the format of licensing and franchises in boardrooms.

Genuine question, but why do we need "stability"? The game is where it deserves to be, and has a decent TV sponsorship who would probably like a bit more "instability" to help create interest. The game was great when it was all semi-pro and no vast difference now with full-time teams if we're honest. The only downer on not developing a bigger and better game in the UK is a) it will continue to hamper the GB/England team, and b) there will be potentially less games for fans to watch other when their own team aren't involved (ie. on TV rather than attending in person).

That's it really.

Is it the competition that brings that instability or the clubs own failings?

Wakefield were in the MPG first year, haven’t been in the Qualifiers since, spent a decent chunk of 2017 in the top 4 and sit in 5th in 2018, positions they rarely got to under other safer formats. They are proof that this format doesn’t have to mean instability and year upon year issues and inability to move upwards.

What works in another sport in another country doesn’t mean it’s the right way to go for this sport in this country.

Could easily point to the Premiership, La Liga, Serie A in response to your comment.

The likes of the NBA, NFL etc. never had a long history of P/R, if they did and then tried getting rid of it and cutting off those teams currently out of the top tier I’d imagine it wouldn’t go down well at all.

£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

It could deliver the perfect set of results in the next 7 days....

Leeds win v Fax
Toulouse win by 1 point at Salford
Leeds bury Toronto by 50+
London beat Fax by 20
HKR v Widnes..who cares 8)

London to host Toulouse in the MPG.........Toronto spend another year paying for teams to visit their beer festivals whilst handing out free tickets like confetti and still have the coin flip of a Grand Final game at the end.... 8)
