How many times have we had heroic DEFEATS in our lifetimes, but no one gives a love.

love Leigh, and love everybody else.

Let's care about us. No one else will

Leigh are a top side, much better than Leeds or Hudds even with players missing. Their bad luck means they may had left it too late to make the six…and I hope so because with a full squad they could do anyone.

Big effort from Nicholson. 53 tackles, 17 of them from marker.

Leigh’s strongest side against our weaker proved problematic, with Thewlis being isolated for the Charnely and Leutele tries.

This won’t go away, teams doing video on us will look at that edge and see frailty. It won’t help with another change in that centre spot, but hopefully we can patch it up and keep Nicholson, Williams and Thewlis as constants to build a bit of cohesion.

To sneak a win against a much improved Leigh team, after the huge effort last week at Saints.. Saw a toughness and determination that maybe wasn’t within the playing squad last season.. the Burgess effect? But Wire looked knackered from the kick off some players running like they had lead boots on

There is some mention of luck about our win. There is often a bit of luck in any teams win, it seems our came from a clear knock on by Ashton before the Nicholson try. Just seen the clip of it and it’s clear as day. Oh well do we care

Agree fatigue was a major factor for us today, also Leigh were much improved and fresh after a week off.
Think Harrison and Walker need a rest soon.
Surprised Vaughan didn’t play many minutes today and he seemed strangely subdued when he was on.

I also thought Vaughan was not his normal rampaging self, could have been the Leigh rush defence, or perhaps bit of sulking after being put on the naughty step/bench.

Couple of other thoughts; Toby King seemed to do an awful lot of work carrying the ball. Looked more of a BR than centre. Although he missed one tackle, his rushing out of the line to nail a player seemed to work well.

Powell impressed me, he is looking better each game and outshone Walker (for me anyway). I think Walker may have to up his game at this rate.

I can't believe how much work Nicholson got through and still have the energy to back up for a try. I hope he will extend his contract rather than heading down under.

Dufty 8 - key involvements in both 2nd half tries and a lot of good metres in contact
Ashton 6 - quiet
King 8 - most effective back
Wrench 6 - was going OK until injury
Thewlis 6 - quiet but stunning involvement in winning play
Williams 6
Hayes 6
Harrison 6 (leggy)
Walker 6
Philbin 6
Nicholson 8 - industrious and great support play for the winner
Fitzgibbon 9 - terrific
Crowther 6 - quiet although suspect his stats were still good

Powell 6
Ratchford 7 (slightly unexpected appearance and made a number of key tackles in the 2nd half)
Vaughan 7 (started to look himself in the last quarter)
Bullock 6

When did Leigh have a week off :? think your on crossed wires crosswire :D

Great game, you got a bit of luck with that last try but that’s the way it goes - we all get the odd rub at some point, as a Leigh fan more than happy with that performance and play like that and the wins will come

Think Burgess has given you guys that bit of steel and determination, you’ve certainly got the players now hopefully getting the mentallity to go with it
