A home game is 70 miles away but still worth it!

Milking penalties! : Thu Sep 20, 2018 8:31 pm
How many penalties can Wigan milk in a game. Almost every play the ball a player either grabs or throws himself to the floor.
Why do refs always give em

Because it's Wigan. Just like Partington won't get a ban for leading with his knees.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

The PTB is my biggest bugbear at the moment. It starts with what to me seems to be a 3rd man flopping onto an already completed tackle (why no penalty) Then the tackled player doing either the "dying fish"/ moving forward as he stands up then falling into the marker/tackled player traps arm/tackler leaves an arm in. Let alone the ball is rarely, if ever, played properly. It has become like the RU scrum in that every tackle could see at least one penalty being legitimately given.

Exactly the mess of the play the ball is one of the biggest turn offs at the moment. You forgot the hands outstretched fake exasperation of the dummy half too each tackle. Boring, boring, boring.

Neither glass half full or empty. Just a realist.

Re: Milking penalties! : Fri Sep 21, 2018 9:23 am
I gave up after 30 minutes. Umpteen knock-ons, combined with theatricals, was enough for me.

At one stage, I thought the transfer ban had temporarily been lifted, and Wigan had signed Neymar, Ashley Young and the 70's version of Franny Lee.

Players need to realise they're not auditioning for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and ref's need to realise that contact at the ptb, is not necessarily interference

If existing RL fans are switching off, there is no chance of attracting a new audience.

The powers that be need to get the game back to the dymamic, exciting, agressive, fast and skillful spectacle it used to be. Instead of pissing around with structures trying to eek out pennies from the TV money.

This is a method of play that aims to gain an advantage. It is dishonest and cheating, however until the referees and assistants get a grip and identify they are being hoodwinked it will carry on. It is the same as the Sam Tomkins, trap the arm and leg in the tackle and feign holding down. Eventually it will get sorted, alas not until after the season is over and the officials have their end of season Kabal.

Exactly. Just adhering to the current rules can stamp it out.

Protesting and mithering ref - penalty.
Mithering about penalty decision - 10 yard advance to penalty.
Feigning / Cheating - 10 mins sin bin.
Only captains to speak to ref unless solicited by ref.
Players to immediately get off player when tackle complete - not this 2-5 second variable period we have.
