As poor as Roberts has been(basically based on his wages), he's still 10 times the player patton will ever be. But he's a Warrington lad, so let's forget the fact that he's 23 and had about 60 first team games to show any sign of ability. Roberts doesn't choose his wages, that is someone else's decision. If he had come over in the same situation Greg mackey did, nobody would have an issue with his performances.

Trouble is, Mackey came over, and looked like a class act from moment one (ran the show v Wigan, 1st game of the season)
Mackey "played his heart out" whenever he took the field. Yes, he "did the dirty on us" and took Hull's money, but he was then fully committed to Hull, and played like it, too. And again, when he re-signed for us.

Can the same be said for Roberts? I don't think so.

Oh blimey are we still bashing Roberts? We have got the message.
Must admit when I saw the heading for the topic I thought ... How long will take?
It's like pressing a button.

And of course when Roberts leaves us and heads off into the sun we'll soon find another player to sling cheap rubbish at. It's pretty low lads.

I'm sorry Smiffy I have to disagree with you here, as we are paying marquee wages for someone who hasn't delivered marquee performances.

Yes he's probably as good as we've got and I hope he plays in the semi and rips it up, but, for the money and the rep, many including me were expecting a bit more...someone to lead us around the park someone to take us to the next level.

In a salary capped sport, judging a players contribution against his cost is inevitable, if he's only marginally better than someone at half the money that's not good business, especially when we need to improve quality in a number of areas.

Using the car analogy

What we thought we were buying
A prestige used car. Will turn heads, and cause others jealousy. Will leave it's user with a great feeling of worth

What we got
A run of the mill family saloon. Will do a job, sometimes unreliable. What we paid out for, leaves you feeling disappointed

Don't get me wrong. I WANT the fella to succeed. He plays for my team, after all. I want us to be successful.

When his replacement comes, I'll give him more than a "fair crack of the whip". However, if he doesn't live upto expectations, I and a fair few others will let our feelings known. Being a fan sometimes means handing out brickbats, as well as bouquets

I too am disappointed (and so will Roberts be) with how it's turned out. But do we have to be so repetitive and insulting? He's leaving.

We can't just ignore it, if his performances are being repetitive, its going to get spoken about, you should probably go have a word with him, we can't change his form, we've tried supporting him, we've tried yelling at him, nothing works.

Bare in mind you've only got 2 more weeks of this.

November 2016, Sandow leaves us in the lurch and we sign Brown at the 11th hour. October 2017, we've just escaped the middle 8's and we haven't got a coach. We sign Roberts who, more than likely, didn't want to come to England but instead was using us hoping to boost an NRL offer. Neither are bad half backs, we just weren't in a strong bargaining position at the time. It was equivalent to us needing to call an emergency plumber out over Christmas. It's not that either of these guys were cowboys, just expensive.
