The clubs announce these things when it is right for them. So widnes many not want to appear like there is a fire sale going on whilst people are still buying season tickets. We might not want an announcement yet as fans are still getting last saturdays dissapointment out of their heads. There is usually deals that are announced to keep season ticket sales moving.

Re: 2019 Squad : Thu Nov 15, 2018 12:16 pm
So, squad becoming a little clearer now:

Full Back: Ratch, Johnson, Mamo (Utility Back)
Wing: Lineham, Charnley
Centre: Goodwin, King, Atkins
Halfs: Austin, Brown, Patton, Smith?
Prop: Hill, Cooper, Philbin, Tasi, Sita, Westwood, Doro
Hooker: Clark, Walker
2nd Row: Currie, Hughes, BMM, Livett, Davis, Johnson, Robson
Loose: Clark

Out: Brown, Austin, Crosby, Thompson, King, Pomeroy, Prell
In: Mamo, Austin, Tasi, Clark, Davis, Walker, Doro (Youth), Robson (Youth)

Looking purely at numbers I think we still lack maybe a young winger that could come in and support the squad when needed, but its a fairly well balanced squad I think now (especially as Currie or Livett can jump in to the centres with Goodwin to wing). Last year I had concerns about going in to the season without a recognised second option at hooker, but we have that covered now.

Quality wise I'm not sure Brown is the answer at 7, and not a great partner for Austin, but we are where we are on that score - we should be moving heaven and earth to get a better 7 in for 2020. Prop is another area that I feel we are maybe one person down in terms of quality, we have enough numbers there I think, but would swap the cap space Sita & Tasi are taking up for a David Fifita every day of the week.

Hoping we have some space left on the cap for a mid season signing if an injury crisis hits, but compared to the 2018 squad, I'm fairly happy.

It's much stronger than last year.
Is Moran still with us? Johnson has played wing as well as FB.
(You've also seem to have got rid of Austin a bit quick ... bit harsh I think!!)
We have done very well to stay within the salary cap with that squad.

We've signed a player with potential to improve and also increase competition for places.. no bad thing.

Put simply Mitch Brown > Jake Mamo.... is a step upwards

If Moran is still with us is he likely to play a game? Struggled to find a place in the squad for a while now, just feel if he was going to make it we would have seen something by now - happy to be proven wrong though.

Not sure where I've suggested we get rid of Austin?
