The results of all SEVEN Championship matches of each round are to be predicted:
A) Correct winning team in any of those matches earns the poster five points
B) Correct winning margin (to the abovementioned team) earns a further ten points
C) Exact score-line (with correct winners) earns a further fifty points
D) A correctly predicted draw (nobody managed this last season) earns a hundred points with a further fifty for the correct score-line
E) Correctly predicting all seven winners (or obviously more drawers) a further one hundred points. This will be known as a Pokemon
F) In the event of a short term postponements (eg a match put back to the following Tuesday) that match will count wholly to that week’s predictions. Longer term postponements will (eventually) be scored on the original prediction but will not retrospectively score regarding Rule E (the Pokemon).
G) In the event of indefinite postponements the “All seven” in the Pokemon will become “All six” or “All five” as appropriate. The Pokemon will NOT apply to four or less games.
H) Punts may be edited up to the first kick off time but will then be set in stone. Bongser trusts that Moderators will keep their own such edits visible!!
I)A bonus question (Bongser’s Bonus Question or BBQ) will be set each week, usually, though not necessarily, with a Leigh slant. This will often not be a feat of skill but more a lottery punt. Grand Prix scoring will apply with the closest competitor getting the top marks (first post wins in the event of a tie – edits excluded).
J) Jay stands for Joker (worked out nicely that). One Joker will be awarded to each punter that enters the first round. This may be played in the first round or stored until the poster feels confident of one of his/her predictions. A Joker doubles the points accrued on any correct prediction. It may be played
• on a single match (in the format: Home Team XX-YY Away Team – Joker played);
• daringly on a Pokemon prediction (indicated by using the words “Jokermon played”)
The single attendance point of last season is to be replaced by a joker fraction (j). Attend five times and thereby collect five joker fractions and you will be awarded another full Joker (J) that may again be used at a time of your choosing. Track will be kept of these in the Pred League Table. A poster for instance with a Joker available to play the following week (if he/she opts to do so) and with three further joker fractions will appear in the table in this format: PosterX: 275pts J+jjj. If available, more than one Joker may be played in a round.
K) Time capsule puntables will be set at various stages of the season. These will only be unearthed later in the season. A group of such capsules will be set on the first round of the season and will be worth more points than any subsequent ones set when the season has started to take shape. Jokers may not be played on time capsules or BBQs
L) The highest scorer in each round (both joint highest if so) will receive a further 25 points (each) pat on the head bonus. Unearthed time capsule points will not contribute to the calculation of the week’s winner.
M) One set of punts only per week from any poster. In the event of an infringement to this rule, only the first set will stand.
N) Entries before kick-off times please (miss a KO and the remaining games will still count – coz Bongser’s a nice bloke).
O) Bongser (but only he) is forbidden to bet against Leigh.
P) Bongser’s decision is (however misguided) final.
All posters welcome (including non-trolling visitors from other clubs). Puntables out tomorrow - there or square!
