Does anybody have any information on any junior school RL in Leigh ?

The Kirkhall Cup was a competition played for by the local Junior Schools and the Rubin Cup was played for by the local Secondary Schools.
The Kirkhall Cup was presumably named after me ( ) more likely named after the Ground 'Kirkhall Lane'.
The Rubin Cup was of course named after Major Rubin a local business man and a LRLFC benefactor!
The Finals of the respective competitions were played on the same day at Hilton Park with the secondary school competition being the main event!

Thanks for that Kirkhall , I was aware of it , my last ever RL match was winning the final at Hilton Park for St Paul's in 71 I think it was , on the same night my brother played for Westleigh high school but lost the Rubin final , apparently some kid called Woods ripped them apart in the 2 nd half

I was actually fishing for info on if it was still contested ( found out today it is )

Not found that out yet Alan , done a bit of digging today about what the various organisations are doing , lots of genuinely good stuff happening

That's good to know. There was a time, not too long ago, when the sport appeared to be struggling in the primary schools. Finding committed members of staff, health & safety, National Curriculum etc were all conspiring to reduce the number of schools participating.
