tough game, we matched saints for long periods, even looked the better team but just couldnt take our chances, attack not good enough ... but thats been the same for years now... brough has been our attack for years but cant break down defences... still its early days with our new half back combo so can still improve

roberts is not as effective as a starting second rower.. needs to impact off the bench but has to play from the off due to symonds not being available.

ferguson was great again lastnight, so was murphy

mamo was poor, needs some sun and more game time after such a long lay off... same for jerry ... can see the rust just not match fit.

taai and clough were great up front and matched saints

the ref i thought was abit harsh on us.. gave us knock ons then let saints get away with exactly the same! dont want him as a red again anytime soon.

that try just before half time and the two quick fire ones second half were the difference and saints being more clinical in their finishing.

roll on next week, not disheartened, loads off effort form the lads lastnight

The ref was terrible but Huddersfield got just about everything. Walmsley try not given when it was clearly a try, turnover after Murphy puts the ball in touch, some strange knock on decisions and he gave far too many pens to both teams.

As a saints fan I thought you looked decent but lacked any cutting edge in attack (could be down to our defence). You’ll easily get top 8 but won’t have enough for top 4. We made a lot of stupid mistakes but bailed ourselves out with our defence and in the end our quality told and we looked very comfortable second half.

thought our hookers didnt really help in our attack lastnight too

leeming brain fart kicking on the second tackled?! o brien some poor passes

brough can not break defences, gone on for years

mamo isnt upto speed yet but still an asset that will come good in the summer

mcgillvary being put into space? well we know he needs a class centre like cudjoe for that but hes injured

like i said before though not too disheartened with the display overall

Saints only got a roll on after hinchcliffe went off doesn't half make us a better defensive unit. Hopefully wakeman returning will help have more punch of the bench cause imo Walne and smith was a waste of 2 subs

Wakeman is not the answer. We are a quality prop short and it really shows when we have the worst combinations on the pitch.

I agree with the prop comment-
Two new signings- both props- both Stones’ choices. Our best performing props are the ones he DIDNT sign. Lots said about how he had to work with players he didn’t want. Well he’s had a chance to go make changes now has he improved our squad?

think our forward matched saints

that wasnt our problem

scoring was, the hookers were the two poor performers

although smith went unnoticed in the game! walne was back from a calf injury but not best true

I’m not sure how you can blame the hookers!
Our players were losing the floor in the tackle and weren’t getting a quick ptb, your hookers can’t make things happen with a slow Ptb!

The problem is if you have half a dozen players not performing you will never beat a team like Saints.
Smith and Walne were non existent. Roberts was very poor and really needs to step up. Mamo, Ikahifho and Leeming are clearly nowhere near their best which is probably down to an injury hit pre season so you would hope to see some big improvements in the coming weeks.

true... smith and walne were poor.... walne off the back of an injury... could see wakeman come in for him but again hes coming off an injury and not played since world cup!! hard one

said for a long time ollie roberts is wasted as a starting second rower, all his best performances for me were coming off the bench as an impact player, just being asked to do too much in defence now and taking away his attack, but its not his fault.... symonds is supposed to be our starting second rower

agree with the other 3..should start to see them back to their best soon, early days

big 3 matches coming up all winnable

Roberts 6 missed tackles and only 41 metres made with ball in hand.
Walne only 3 carries Smith 5 and Ikahifho 6 really not doing much work. You have to suspect Ikahifho is nowhere near 100% fit yet.
