The Hole

The hole were in is much bigger than I initially thought. The only thing worth keeping us in SL is to retain our youngsters in my eyes. If it wasn't for them I genuinely wouldn't care if we went down this time round.

Gaskell is aboslutely dreadful but yet will get accommodated to, no matter what. What attributes does he have for a SL half back or Centre? NONE Throws hospital passes and throws silly passes out wide on the 2nd tackle which results in us been put in touch, twice!!! when we had tackles to spare!!! Cant break a tackle and weak in defence. Worryingly have him for another 2/3 years.

Brough - hates to lose which cant be said for alot of other players. However, while he is still in our team we will get nothing from referees because they hate him with a passion and 50/50 calls will always go against us.

Adam Walne - dreadful signing and why he was picked before Wakeman today I will never know. He offers absolutely nothing and an utter waste of a signing.

Rankin - Not good enough at all in either the halves or full back. Unfortunately we have him for another 2 years.

Aaron Murphy - No longer a winger but better at centre. But even still, hes never going to make a break or put his winger in with decent handling. We may as well move him to the 2nd row as all hes does is run hard.

The problem is all these players will be here next year which means our attack and game management is unlikely to change. If we start next season with Gaskell and Rankin as our halves I will not be renewing my season card.

Matty English by far our best player today and deserves to keep his place in the squad going forward.

Bring in Jake Wardle next week at Centre and move Turner to the halves.

Agree with this on both counts. I still cannot understand why Turner was not allowed to continue in the halves after the Catalan game, we moved him back to centre so that what.. Rankin and Gaskill could play there?!!? Turner is the only player i have seen this year who has created any threat at half back whatsoever.. so Thorman moves him back to centre so players with less ability can stuff it up there instead.

English is a good rugby league player, out of all the youngsters tried he looks the one that is ready for this level, hope his stint in the first team continues.

You will have to ask Thorman why he replaced Wakeman with Walne, I suspect it will have something to do with the Myth about players playing out of their skin against former clubs, Didn't seem to work today.

Walne is a strange one, He runs the ball in and turns his back on the tacklers, he makes no attempt to bust the line, but yet having turned there is never an offload, still some one must have liked his game.

Stats for yesyerday- you know I love a stat.
Brough 10 tackles, 4 missed
Gaskell 19 tackles 1 missed
Yet still this myth perpetuates that brough is a brilliant tackler and Gaskell is poor ( these stats are backed up so far this season too)
Brough no errors Haskell 2 errors.
Gaskell 6 carries and 9.3 metres Avg gain - highest in the team- seems to know when to run-
Brough 16 carries 4.4 metres.

Seems some players are criticised more harshly than others.

How Brough can be in a boot for 2 weeks then line up to play is beyond me. Clearly wasn't fit and was an act of desperation in an important game in my eyes. 2-3 weeks off will hopefully allow him to get fit.

is gaskell worse than brough?

did everyone see brough have a go at gaskell if he dared even try do anything himself? your captain shouting like mad ... no wonder gaskell cant show any skill of his own.. but yes even so hes been disappointing.. leeming and roberts also got the hairdryer treatment from brough... how is this good for team morale which is evidently as low as its ever been at this club.

walne is totally garbage.

rankin very disappointing but again another who isnt allowed to play his game due to brough wanting everything to go through him!!! all me me me.

sick of the sight of him to be honest when hes ranting at our other players, the guy cant even pass a ball himself.. his kicking is decent and no questioning the commitment but hes dragging the rest down like his career is winding down... was hoping we would have a breath of fresh air for 2019 in the half backs but nope

Most fans on here seem to feel the same, so why doesn't Thorman drop him, and Stone before him, And if everyone on here and most of the terrace can see whats going on with him, Who the hell extended his contract.

All that said , there is a hell of a lot more than Brough to sort out, before you even start on the field.

Most of the players have done ok or better in the past, but that is in the past. We seriously lack pace, players look unfit and do not appear to believe in what they are being asked to do.
That is in my opinion a coaching issue, an issue that has not been rectified by moving from Stone to Thorman, albeit a glimpse of better times v Leeds. Hairdryer motivation has a short shelf life, particularly if you go public about it.
I think a genuinely new coach rather than a promotion is a must.
