Two poor teams and a poor referee : Sun Apr 15, 2018 5:22 pm
Everything that is wrong with Rugby League was on show this afternoon.

A penalty fest by an erratic referee seemingly given no assistance by his touch judges, a poor Salford team who in general came to slow the game down and spoil and an even worse Huddersfield team who weren’t professional enough to keep their collective heads and concentrate on themselves not the other things around them that they couldn’t control.

When I saw Shannon Wakeman who had a big game last week heading off to Costa with a sour look on his face on my way into the ground I began to get nervous however it’s Chris Thormans call so onward and upward.

However after watching Walne again it wasn’t a good one.

I’m not going to talk about the individual performances a lot of which were poor and it’s down to the individual to look in the mirror and be honest with themselves.

But the organisation is poor too many attacks breaking down through carelessness or lack of concentration and shocking discipline giving far too many penalties and easy metres to the opposition.

James Child is a frustrating referee and whilst Danny Brough should know better Chris Thorman has also seen all the signs before and with the game lost should have replaced him a good coach would have.

The sad thing is that if that is entertainment a la Giants then people will vote with their feet because as a spectacle it was shocking but sadly the Giants were the worst part of it and need to a improve rather quickly.

Spot on. Lost (deservedly) to a very poor opposition.

Far too many really poor/past it players.

Get everyone fit for the middle eights then stay up and have a clear out, The following have to go

Mamo
Gaskell
Rankin
Clough
Walne
Smith
Wakeman
Mckintosh

You’ve added a young kid to that list which I’d say is harsh.

Watch out Innes - you are okay this year but next year you won’t be forgiven anything- even though you will make fewer mistakes, get little game time (maybe even in a number of different positions) and play better than last year-
and for goodness sake don’t get ill, lose 6kg in three days then put your hand up to play in Catalan when there’s no one else- the fans will crucify you!

Agree with all those expect McIntosh who was excellent last season. He needs an extended run in the side, like he had last season.

Unfortunately, Gaskell, Rankin, Smith and Walne are signed up for the next 2/3 years.

We may be able to get rid of Wakeman and Mamo.

Unfortunately staying up would almost certainly guarantee those players staying with us. Sad fact is we are not a Super league team, We have been teetering on the edge for some time now and at the moment It's not looking good for survival.

certainly need to concentrate on getting the senior players that are injured out just ready for the middle 8's, no rushing them back as its pointless the top 8 is gone.

as for getting rid of players, you cant do that if they are contracted... very harsh on clough to be on that list..anycase he has just renewed

That is probably going to happen sooner or later, Possibly the likes of Toronto Toulouse or New york may avert it but that won't do us any good.
