Two poor teams and a poor referee : Sun Apr 15, 2018 5:22 pm
Everything that is wrong with Rugby League was on show this afternoon. A penalty fest by an erratic referee seemingly given no assistance by his touch judges, a poor Salford team who in general came to slow the game down and spoil and an even worse Huddersfield team who weren’t professional enough to keep their collective heads and concentrate on themselves not the other things around them that they couldn’t control.
When I saw Shannon Wakeman who had a big game last week heading off to Costa with a sour look on his face on my way into the ground I began to get nervous however it’s Chris Thormans call so onward and upward.
However after watching Walne again it wasn’t a good one.
I’m not going to talk about the individual performances a lot of which were poor and it’s down to the individual to look in the mirror and be honest with themselves.
But the organisation is poor too many attacks breaking down through carelessness or lack of concentration and shocking discipline giving far too many penalties and easy metres to the opposition.
James Child is a frustrating referee and whilst Danny Brough should know better Chris Thorman has also seen all the signs before and with the game lost should have replaced him a good coach would have.
The sad thing is that if that is entertainment a la Giants then people will vote with their feet because as a spectacle it was shocking but sadly the Giants were the worst part of it and need to a improve rather quickly.
