Biggest losses will be Kirby, Hewitt and Russell, Wardle played 9 games all year for Academy so hasn’t been as vital as the other three,
Flynn
Hallas
Whitmore
I senior
L senior
Pinder
All still there next year

Giants not running a reserve team next year so where are likes of
Kirby
Hewitt
Wardle
Dickinson
Farrell
Walne
Roche
Going to play ?

Question 3- What is the situation regarding reserve team next season?
·
·
Due to the cost of running a reserve side, it would be financially unviable, due to having to pay for coaches, players etc
It would be cheaper to actually buy a smaller club and use that as a reserve grade.

I understand the money issue- but I think that’s a closed way of looking at how having a reserve side benefits both the academy in terms of further developming the youngsters and first team in terms of keeping fringe players match fit.
As for it being cheaper to buy a smaller club? That clearly was a tongue in cheek statement. If 70k was all it took (the value stated was needed to run the reserves) then smaller clubs wouldn’t find themselves in financial difficulties!
Just £10 extra on each already cheap season ticket, and £1 on a walk up price would cover a big chunk.

As much as I think having a reserve side is a good thing, it doesn't guarantee any more success at all and can even become a burden.

It's a shame that there is no stepping stone once they get older, but is it worth running something for the one or two players who could make it?

Clubs had A teams for years that everybody and his dog ended up playing for... I must have seen A Trialist and AN Other more than any other player in the Northern Union!!

It didn't make us a better team and you could argue we actually flourished more when it was canned.

After a fantastic season in which they finished 4th and qualified for the grand final play offs for the first time, the baby Giants travel to Wigan looking to book a historic first ever grand final place and the support of the Giants fans could be massive!
The game will be played at The Missing Link Communications Community Stadium, Edge Hall Road, Orrell, WN5 8TL on Saturday 22nd September KO 2 PM.
Admission is £5 adults and £3 concessions

Let's all try and get over there and give the lads the support they deserve

There is a supporters coach running to the game, organised by one of the HGSA committee members, there are 8 places still available if anyone is interested in going to the match.

The coach will leave the stadium at 11.30am and the cost is £9.

Anyone interested please email charlieanne88@icloud.com to book on.
