Looks like a great piece of Thewlis/Woolford business here.

Albeit on Sky Jake looks a great piece of business for Warrington and Uate a dud thus far for us ?

Add this to the Connor fiasco and is it ‘three Jakes and out ?

early days on mamo, if he plays regular for warrington then its a good piece of business for them

we know what he can do

but the amount of games he played for us just wasnt enough, missed too many games for the wage he was collecting, when he was fit last season at the back end he couldnt get in the team too

Jake Mamo was offered a contract and chose to reject it hence making himself a free agent, hardly the clubs fault, would you have been happy for them to double his pay just to keep him in the squad?

exactly, offered him what he is worth for the amount of games we got back in return. not enough,,..warrington have more money... if they get more games from him then maybe its our backroom staff who cant keep players fit.. which on evidence could be true

On Mamo's best day he's half the player Uate is.
Having said that, Uate is a funny character who has to have a really good relationship with the coach before he'll have a dip, and Woolford is the last coach i'd expect to get him to perform.
Ironically, Rick Stone's fatherly approach had Uate playing the best footy of his life for both Newcastle and Fiji, while Woolford's "tough love" approach will always have him sulking in backplay.

yeh can see that

done it with ikahihifo too, former best prop in the league and woolford wanted him out... not really performing now... yet he goes all out for matagi and hes no better.

now he seems to be dropping player of the year last season adam obrien from the team, woolford has some strange ways for me

Some players respond well to Woolford.
He has a similar philosophy to Nathan Brown, who just about destroyed Uate's career, which is why I don't think Uate would respond to Woolford.
Brown got Woolford in as an assistant coach at Newcastle because they both have the philosophy that players should take personal responsibility and be self motivated, and Uate is a shy, introverted guy who lacks self confidence, so he doesn't respond well to them.

The time he took to finally sign on the dotted line indicates to me his heart wasn’t truly in it anyway. The performances seem to back that up.
If he doesn’t “man up” he’s going to be in for a miserable time.

He'd always singed but due to other issues the club weren't permissed to announce it until they did.

yep it was obvious he had signed, the club who didnt want to announce it at the time.

some were happy when the giants took the deal away from jackson hastings because he was taking too long to make a decision
