David Hughes hobby : Sun Oct 14, 2018 10:04 pm
The accounts are in. It is still costing David a pretty penny, the losses have been reduced but are still quite significant.

Time for LBSA to step in and help him out as they think the future is financing and running the club and we have become part of the supporters trust.

Re: David Hughes hobby : Mon Oct 15, 2018 9:48 am
The footnote of course here is that these latest numbers are in respect of the 2017 season. I suspect the numbers look even better for 2018 with a number of players/staff off our books.

I made a point of thanking David personally after the Halifax game and I am sure others have done the same. The sport owes him a huge debt of gratitude and in the sweep of history he will be recognised as a key figure in the game's southern development.

In the present climate, it feels right that we should bring one or two, or a consortium of additional private equity investors on board to take the club where it needs to be. Despite all the hard work, it now feels like we have another huge mountain to climb to sustain the success - that will require great investment. It's no criticism of people working as hard as they can, bit the current quality of the marketing and match day experience are nowhere near good enough to compete with the other attractions available in London.

You're right; LBSA members are committed to supporting the Club - hence our sponsorship of the Academy for the last three years with discussions already well advanced to continue this in 2019. The change to a Supporters Trust (details on Official Trust Launch to come during the off season) does put us in a much better position to contribute to the long term success of the Club, and an open and honest ongoing dialogue between the Club and its supporter base would be a great place to start.
Replacing David's largesse is not a plan that the LBSA, or anyone else for that matter, would seriously contemplate. Rather hard work must be done to build a stable financially viable Club with a long term vision for success of the Club and sport in London. I'm sure LBSA members would be a vital part of this project, in whatever capacity is needed.

I have often wondered if we made it back to the top flight would Trailfinders be interested in investing or sponsoring the Broncos?
Or are they just happy with us as tenants?

£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

were you front and Centre at the start of 2014....or the middle....or at the last game because I was at the Bradford game in 2014 and left him in no doubt as to why we had been relegated...we are not his hobby and he is lucky to own us........if he wasn't an egocentric person, he'd own swinton......but the eyes of the world will never be on swinton........give Me koukash's cash any day.......Hughes isn't a hero, he's the problem!

Rant over.

Just curious why you say that. Can you elaborate a bit?

He doesn't seem like an egocentric person. He twice made way for egos way bigger than his.

You're new here aren't you?
Hughes has made so many bad decisions regarding the club that is is hysterical that you need to ask......we were in a purpose built Rugby Stadium with close to 3,500 regulars when he took sole control...the fact that he let the "Harlequins Rugby Lessons" comment from a child make the club revert it's name back to the Broncos should be proof enough that he hasn't a clue.......and yes, I can elaborate plenty, but the last time I unloaded on Mr Hughes this forum and its owners saw fit to ban another poster for life, so I'll hold fire for now thanks, but needless to say, with him anywhere near the tiller this ship is heading back towards the ice-flow.

Nice to see we are all being very positive, well done RF without mr Hughes Broncos would not be here never mind back in SL, some folk seem to find that hard to believe.
