Escare stays.

I'm all for this. With his versatility he'll see plenty of games in 2019. He's improved greatly at Wigan and, IMO is a valuable squad member. Pleased to see him stay.

Completely agree. I’m glad he has stayed but I can’t help but feel it may be a lost cause for him. Barring a miracle, he won’t start in front of Hardaker at FB. That may open the door for him at #7 instead but again I can’t really see that happening. A lad of his age and ability should be playing, and starting, regularly at this level. He just won’t get that at Wigan IMHO.

With injures and suspensions I think he'll see a lot of game time in 2019.

I’m not sure that’s the right thing for Escare to be honest, to be reliant upon someone in his position(s) getting injured or suspended is a bit of a sad existence IMO. It’s alright if you’re a young 17/18yr old trying to break in, but for an established SL player at his age to be in that position is just sad. I admire his courage and determination and I’m happy he’s with us, but I don’t think he’s made the best decision for himself and he may well end up at a lower end SL club or top end Championship club.

I think you make a good point. But realistically if the options are playing for Wigan first team in any capacity (I believe still a high percentage of games) or playing lower grade, I know which I'd pick.

He’s had some great games against us over the last couple of seasons. He’d certainly be somebody I’d be looking at when Leuluai calls it quits.
