Pleasing at least to hear Ian Lenagan say in his interview that we need to sort the scrum half situation. No doubt we would only let Williams go as well when/if a suitable replacement is found.

Seems to me Williams does want to go and frankly it’s time to let him,no point in keeping a player who’s head is elsewhere

Andrew Johns and the NRL commentators that watched him in the WCC win against Cronulla last year quite liked his performance that day.

I'm not going to get all worked up over the GW situation - This time last year it was all signed sealed and delivered that he was going to the Wolfs according to the Message Board experts.

What I will say is, There is no other British Half back that I would want to see at Wigan over the next 3 years than George Williams.
On that front I would be gutted if he left.

then again if the coaches don't fancy him or the Paymasters think they can get better value elsewhere then so be it.

Jukesays, I’m aware you say you have links to the players so appreciate that may influence what you put on here, but I can’t help feel you’re missing the point on this one.

Lam has said he wants his son and Williams playing together. Lenagan has said he wants to keep George Williams and Radlinski has said he’s an integral part of Wigan’s future so I don’t think it’s that people within the club don’t want him.

And it’s not that this is a rumour like the Warrington rumour was... George has been directly quoted by NRL.com saying he wants to play in the NRL next year and whilst it may not be what Wigan want, he would like to make a deal if a legitimate offer is there.

I think he’s quality and likewise would be gutted if he left, especially given our recent coaching appointments but this has come across as very poor form on his behalf, disrespectful to the club to be honest.

Nothing against players wanting to go to the NRL, I would in there position but it’s how you handle it. Bateman for example made it clear early on and got the clause into the last year of his contract. He’s taken it and I think I speak on behalf of most fans when I say I’m gutted to see him go but good on him, no hard feelings. Williams however has only recently signed a new marquee money deal on the back of the afromentioned rumours and now he’s coming out saying he doesn’t want to be here. I just can’t accept that and if he/his agent are just going to be generating a constant rumour mill and/or his heads not in it then he might as well f*ck off.

Have zero respect for Williams. Touting himself openly when under contract is one of the worst signs of disrespect to a fan base. It should stay behind closed doors. I probably think even less of him for not wanting to be coached by two of the best halfbacks to have played the game.

Joe Bullock to the NRL in 2020 is what I've heard. Nearly chose Souths before Wigan but they're back in for him for 2020.

Leaving before they've even pulled a jersey on for us now.

Is this from the same person who told you Daryl Powell would be coach?

If what IL said yesterday morning was true, were Wire the SL club who offered £400,000 for Williams last year?

You would assume so, no smoke without fire etc.

That can't be true? He'll be leaving as he's hitting his prime. Absolute joke.

perhaps Wigan are just after making a quick buck out of him, i'm sure the contract he signed goes beyond that doesn't it, so we could demand a fee? may be wrong...

i suppose there's not much wrong with it either way, other than the loss of personnel of course. bateman is backin 2021 anyway ;)
