Talking of problem players-Tony Gigot is apparantly available after his ban was quashed. I was reading last night that he’s not signed on with Catalans yet but they along with Cas want him.

I wouldn’t mind a bid for him as another centre or fullback option.

I thought Gigot was back at the Cats?

It seems unclear. There’s a bit of talk going around that he was off contract at the end of last year and nothing was agreed over a new deal due to this ban. If that’s true or not I’m not sure.

He’s a good player that’s for sure.

**Edit** Just checking the Catalans website and their chairman talks about how glad they are the ban has been quashed. It doesn’t categorically state he’s back playing for them but it sounds very much that way.

Is he better than Escare though?

Never seen him play right centre so hard to comment on that position

Well put it this way, they were happy to give us Escaré to keep Gigot in the fullback position.

Gigot is quality but full back is his favoured position so I don’t think he would be worth the cap space as a make shift centre, the same with Hardaker and that’s why neither are going to happen,Gigot has just signed a new deal at Cats and I just can’t see us taking the risk on Hardaker.

From the same source that told me Walmsley would resign with saints weeks before it was announced (check the Saints forum) Sam Burgess will be signing for Wigan

It seems strange that a bloke who lives in a great place like Sydney,has all his family there, loves the lifestyle,Is earning 1.1mil a year and playing in the best rugby league competition in the world would come to play in an inferior competition,on less money (you would imagine) and live under the grey skies of the north west of England!
Not saying it’s not true but it would seem an odd decision if he did.

What if he has a burning ambition to win the Super League before retiring, 2 seasons in Wigan then go back to one last nice big contract before retiring, also his Mrs might fancy living in the UK for a couple of years for experience and ease of travelling round Europe, stranger things have happened
