Few issues with that. Davies plays on the right, Marshall, for the most part the left. The left side is where the space and tries are, I'm willing to bet if Davies was on the left his try tally would be considerably higher. To add to this when Marshall played right wing he scored a grand total of zero tries, as he wasn't getting the time and space he was on the left. In the same spell Burgess was playing left and bagging the tries.

Secondly, there's far more to a wingers game than scoring tries, namely preventing them and defence. Davies is considerably better than Marshall in those elements of his game.

Plus I see Davies as 3rd choice behind Burgess and Manfredi.

Almighty scrap on the card next year between Burgess/Dom/Davies for those two spots. I think Davies has probably earned one of them to begin with, given the fitness issues of the other two, but I don't think there's much in it.

We're in a good position with our wingers and further cover. I just hope we get in a more creative 7 to open more space on the right edge. The right edge outside backs have been starved of creative play and space.

mmm not convinced by that Charnley was a right winger and didnt do to bad, Dom scored 2 on Friday there also.

I think there's something in the idea that Marshall thrives on the left in a way that he'd struggle to on the right (at least at the minute). He's lightning and has great feat, but our left going from lockers/williams to gildart then marshall tends to create much more space than when we go right. Luckily, Dom & Davies have the ability to create chances almost from nothing using their strength and handling, so they can still pick up their fair share without an especially creative centre.

That said, I agree that Marshall is probably the better try scorer whichever wing they play on, but Davies all round game makes him the better of the two for me.

All you have to do is watch how our team play. That should convince you.

Wasn't Dom on the left with Davies on the right?

I dunno, Marshall has made plenty of tries on his own. Just think with the extra pace and footwork he is a better winger than Davies, Davies might have other attributes which are better but I think they are less suited for a winger.

Just double checked. He was on the left outside of Gildart.
