Rocky - Stick or twist

What are peoples thoughts on our number 7 for next season? Do we continue with Rocky or look to bring in someone to play ahead of him?

I have been wanting a quality no7 who can control a game for some time but now im thinking we may be better off giving Rocky the no7 starting spot for next season and brining in a young promising back up.

Rocky has demonstrated his kicking ability since replacing Finn and he can only get better at controlling games by playing more. Thoughts?

Stick, he got a chance, he's shown he can operate at this level in his preferred position and can only get better. Whether the club and his representatives can agree on a deal seems to be the question though.

Don't know if its been mentioned else where on here but League Express were reporting that you were in for Ben Reynolds from Leigh. I've seen Rocky, Reynolds, and Tom Holmes play at Cas. Holmes was the best of the 3 but I'd love to see how Rocky and Reynolds would go together.

As we've no quota spaces, stick. In reality, he's probably our best chance of getting into the top four to be honest. We need a top level half back to do it and while he's not one at the minute, he potentially has a very high ceiling so while it's unlikely he reaches that level, it's probably more likely than us increasing our revenue to be able to spend the full cap and get a ready made top level half back.

Stick but only if the price is right for us - we all know our financial situation so clearly we don't pay over the odds. He's good but he's nowhere near good enough to risk team moral for. If we lose that sense of togetherness in the team it wouldn't matter if Hampshire was the new Thurstone we will be in the MPG next year.

I'm probably being controversial here but for me Hampshire or at least his agent seems far more interested in the dosh than the Rugby at times. As I've said elsewhere two or three good seasons at Wakefield and the lad will be able to name his price and he'll only be in his mid twenties. People say RL is a short career and it is but it should still follow the basic rules of business then you get your reward once you've proved yourself not before. If he does the financial rewards will follow.

Chester knocked this one back in an interview yesterday.

As for Rocky, stick, he's developing nicely with game time.

Is this a case of Wakefield sticking with Hampshire or, Hampshire sticking with Wakefield.
It's a key position and I dont think the club can afford to wait too long for the lad to make his mind up.

Having said that, he's been playing well and kicking goals for fun and I think everyone will be happy if he's at Trinity next season.

With a full off season Chessie and the newly appointed Finny can develop Rocky. He is playing a lot better than I thought but I guess it is down to ££££.

I would agree, providing the deal works for both sides lets get him signed and starting at no7 next year with a back up option being brought in.

Listening to the latest video on Trinity TV with CC, i did also get the impression we may look at offloading a quota player as we have been offered a number of overseas half backs. I wouldn't be opposed to this providing they are of known quality and are by far a better no7 than Rocky - but then there are no guarantees in life!
