Eh? What? I think you’re missing the point.

I do not think Jowitt is nor ever will be SL quality, removing Jowitt from the equation only brings Hooley into contention but how am I meant to know if he will be any better for us. I can only go on the comments about him since going out on loan.

I agree. And from what I've seen and heard he'll be better than Max in the long run, but just throwing him in when he is too young/not ready is counter productive.
Max is not terrible. He's had good games and bad games. One more game won't hurt us but it might hurt Hooley. With the fan feedback he'll no doubt get for 1 mistake I'd let him have an off season and then see where our 3 fullbacks line up.

I’m afraid you’ll never get to know this week as Luke is banned so Max plays, he would for me anyway.

Got to say I watched him with a bit of added attention Sunday with him being one of our former juniors. Yes was only one game but I didn't see anything that made me sit up and say he needs a SL shot. Can never go on one game at all just think he has a bit of developing to do before being ready. Although a full season in the championship will have done wonders for him going into pre season next year id have thought

That`s fair enough but I am sure if you watched Jowitt or even Grix for that matter you would probably be saying the same.

I spoke to a player in our squad the other week who was talking about how good Grix was at organising our defence from the back, having a keen eye on numbers/overlap opportunities etc but we don`t see that from the stands though.

People so very often forget that there is more than meets the eye to a players game yet still question what they bring to the team.

And I don't want to be too critical but I've very definite mistakes from Jowitt where he has called a player to a position and got it completely wrong.
It's a Grix strength. But equally Jowitt has strengths Grix doesn't have.

But on balance when fit I'd rather have Grix's strengths.
The plan has to be to teach Jowitt and Hooley as much of that as they can take.

That is it players will do things that go unnoticed in the stands or TV on gameday and in training. For what it is worth I still think Grix has plenty to offer as long as the coach can expect one or two mistakes that he has had in him all his career the rest of the time he performs to a high level. I actually think his early performances for yourselves were very good and helped push you on from where you were at the MPG.

Max is this... Max is that ... for goodness sake he’s a young player still learning a very difficult position . Let’s afford him the games Grix has had .... and like young Walker at Leeds . Walker has made some crackers of mistakes but he’s learning from them and they are willing to give him the time to prove himself . Stop battering our young players .. Jowitt /Crowther etc and get behind them ..... you never know !!!

I think it was Eorl Crabtree, when praising Grix, referred to him as the ‘numbers man ‘ as regards his ability to organise where everyone should be in both attack and defence.

Shaul is still not the finished article now, most FC fans would laugh at you if you suggested he was.

Johnstone - There is not as much to a wingers game as there is a Fullbacks, so that is pretty irrelevant to this discussion. Also I still think there is some improvement in Tom so he is not the finished article yet.

And Hardarker gradually got a lot better at Leeds in the Fullback position. Don`t forget he spent a lot of his time at centre when he first joined Leeds. He also got better under Powell at Cas so no I don`t think he was a finished article at 21 either.

Not picking on you mate you're just the last in line on this. But did any of you watch Jake Truman on friday night? 19 years old and capable of running games so I can't wait to see him at 21. His pass to set up Minikin's try was sublime.
Just an example thats all.

For all Bradford Bull's failings they have managed to unearth some real talent. Shame for them that other clubs are reaping the rewards.
