TBF it's not as if they go for the back anymore.

If they weren't getting reach arounds from Box, they'd probably just carry on making it taller or extend it underground...

Give up on this site guys - our only hope is a revamped or brand new bell vue all energy should be focused on that....

knock the whole thing down and build a new stadium on the site that is what dreams are made off

What’s monumentally sad is that Box will cite jobs as his reason - however I doubt an automated plant like Newcold employs significantly more people than a SL Trinity would in a first class facility.

Apart from the 30+ full time players and coaches a good proportion who would be local certainly more local than some of Newcold staff you also have the following. About 20 full time admin staff maybe more for both the club and the site. Probably another 20 who’s living depends on the club/facilit and countless part time jobs that are so vital to many. This would apply at NM or a revamped BV.

Its as big a certainty as I can have without actually seeing Newcold rosta. It may be bigger but that doesn’t matter as all we want is what we were promised. I don’t have an issue with them but I do with a Council so blinded by a cash dogma that it can’t see that what we offer the local economy is as good as Newcold and in every other respect far better.

I actually find people like Box to actually be more Tory than the Tories. They lack compassion and imagination for the needs of the residents but at least they don’t pretend to care.

Finally having been in Cas yesterday, if Box I’d biased towards them as some on here suggest I’d hate to see how he would treat them if he wasn’t! I see no signs of it, if I lived in that area and loved Cas id vote him out straight away because he’s no use to them either.

I agree. Jobs is always an easy excuse....like a new stadium wouldn't provide jobs aswell - arguably more. I try stay out of politics but party allegiances don't mean a whole lot these days, most are only in it for themselves and/or their wallets, regardless of who they supposedly represent.

What about Xscape and Junction 32?
I don't think we have anything that comes close to either in Wakefield.
All they need is a ground there and you have all the ingredients for a matchday family day out.

Can't agree on that one, I'm no expert but I imagine there were tons of incentives for that with it being the wasteland it was. Can't see any great conspiracy on that one, nor do I credit Box for its success that has to go to the developer. Also it's as close to Pontefract as it is to Castleford town centre.

Also we have more than enough out of town retail parks and a Cinema it's only the Xscape we are missing and personally thats not a deal clincher, they can have it for me.

Yes your right in terms of a stadium for Cas Tiger, it would be perfect but it doesn't seem to be happening which shows just how lame WMDC really are. I don't begrudge them that anyway I begrudge us not getting what was promised us.

Anyway there is more to life than just RL, if you think Cas has had money lavished on it then fine but personally I can't see it - for all it's faults parts of Cas are almost medieval compared to Wakefield. Have they got the Ridings or the Trinity centre or a modern train station or bus station or hospital? I know the Council don't directly fund them but you get my point.

Box is just crap for all I'm afraid or thats how I see it.

Don't want to sound pedantic, vasty but I believe Castleford bus station is newer than Wakefield's
Having said that just look at what Wakefield (not the MDC but the city) has lost under the auspices of Mr Box :-
a) County Court
b) Magistrate Court
c) Crown Court
d) Main Post Office
e) Market
f) Police Station

What have we gained:-
a) An Art Gallery

Ok, not all these can be attributed to Box, but how much did he fight to keep these in the city, and how long before Wakefield Trinity goes the same way as:-
a) Wakefield RUFC
b) Wakefield AFC
c) Wakefield CC

There appears to be a hell of a lot of commercial development going in on in the Castleford environs. I notice a huge Haribo factory has appeared out of nowhere.

Trinity Walk is nothing but a 5 minute walk in a wind tunnel.
The Ridings could be great again but too many empty spaces.
No market, indoor or out.
As for out of town retail parks, they're all filled up with car showrooms and office units.
Parts of Wakefield are worse than medieval.
