In theory, it sounds like a great idea, with large areas that should take advantage of sunlight etc but, surely they would be susceptible to getting damaged when balls are kicked onto the stand roof ?

You would only need a grill over the top that let's light through and not rugby balls.

I don’t see any reason why not but you have to remember that you won’t see a sizeable return for 10 - 15 years as I understand it. However I’d say it’s worth doing.

Isn't it the case that since the environmentally aware Government removed the subsidy for solar panels, that they cost a huge amount to install, especially large ones that would be required to cover a stadium roof, but don't show any RoI for about 20 years?

They're removing feed in tariffs this October I believe so unless you use it while they generate you get nothing. Expect battery storage to come into effect.

Still I'd love to be in a situation where we are considering such detail. We a mile off getting a roof in the first place.

Tesla powerwall.

Forest Green have solar panels on the roof of one of their stands that does 10% of all stadium electricity so it isn't totally unfeasible but also doesn't cover a huge amount of the power usage....Plus anything that saves money & is better for the environment, why not? Either the current Axiom one of the previous Waystone design for Cas had solar panels incorporated onto one of the stands too.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Attach floodlights to wind turbines on each corner and solar panels on every roof, let's go renewable!!
