My observation was more about his relative speed - he doesn't have the acceleration of TJ, the effortless glide of BJB or the blistering straight line pace of MCB or Lyne; but I still wouldn't fancy my chances in a 100m race against him.

I like a rough and tough nuggety winger - and that seems to be his forte; legs like tree trunks, able to bust a tackle, and more bottle than Ben Shaws.

Indeed he isis, a totally different beast to the others. It too early to get carried away but his style (and I'm not saying he is anywhere near as good) is more like Carney was when he signed for Cas, rough and tough but with more than enough pace to finish the job. Certainly gives us options.[imgur][/imgur]

Yeah I'd have to agree, Reece can only find that pace occasionally as far as I can tell but the others can find it all the time. Its a bit like Daves occational runs, he finds it from somewhere but not all the time. That said again its nice to have that Reece option as he's more than quick enough.

Mixing this and another thread, we have more size in the forwards than I ever remember - who know how to use it (no offence to previous incumbents such as Wayne McDonald and Chris Feather), and more pace generally across the backs.

Like with the forwards, the key difference is we are much better at making use of it - Paul Sampson, Paul White, Andrew Frew etc had pace to burn, but either didn't see enough ball, or didn't know how to use it.

I don't think anyone has even mentioned Tupou's surprising turn, which like Lyne is allied to strength to shrug off players, and both miller and Brough are still sharp - the latter impressively so for his age!

Forgot my on thread bit - great debut, entertaining, seemed to revel in getting stuck in, looks bloody awkward to tackle.

Wonder how the lad must've felt when running towards a pretty much packed North Stand cheering him on for his try.

Considering how emotional he was when his family and friends were cheering for him at the end of the game I'd say his heart was probably bursting with adrenelin.
He's got to be first pick to be interviewed on Trinity TV so we'll hopefully find out from the boy himself.

Completely agree. I was dreading Kershaw on the wing after the boxing game derby but I was shocked as hell yesterday with his performance. Leeds couldn’t handle him

It amazes me that anyone can judge a player on one performance in a friendly, the notion of giving someone a chance doesn't even come into it. Also as far as I'm aware he made one error in that game, hardly criminal. Wiser heads prevailed.

Re: Lee Kershaw : Wed Apr 24, 2019 12:00 pm
I thought he was great, and his run in the 2nd half was better than his try in some ways......but, let's not forget on his try, he had come in way off his wing and Briscoe had a walk in if he had taken the pass. He found himself inside of MCB's pass because of this, and was quick enough. Fine margins though between winning and losing, it's about time we got a bit of 'luck' if you can call it that in tight games, if you keep putting that amount of effort in you get rewarded eventually, long may it continue.......
