It's highly unusual, that we announce a major signing (Asiata)early in the season, normally coincides with the news of new memberships.
Maybe, we released the Asiata news early, to stimulate more interest from reputable Managers to apply for the job?.

Maybe so, the more it drags on the more I can see it only being Grix though.

I would be completely underwhelmed with Grix. As stated earlier up the thread, he has improved the defence, but has that just happened with the introduction of some more established and experienced players. Attack has still been woeful. Going from Rowley and offering the rumoured 150k a year, plus £1million worth of salary cap to play with, to just promoting Grix, seems very 'old regime'.

I don't get the fascination of wanting to hire someone with SL experience, some of the more successful coaches in recent times haven't had SL experience, Woolf, Holbrook, Maguire,

I too would be disappointed with Grix getting the job. Still that link there to the Smith days. I'd like a total fresh start on the coaching side of things.

TBF , your whole team went backwards under Smith.

New challenges for both players now. Ayadin was steady away with us and there is improvement in him and both players are only young.

Backwards is a understatement, awful recruitment, players baffled by his demeanours and training a joke by all accounts. He goes, impovement in last 2 games and money and players coming in.

"grix is well liked by the playing staff and officials at the club" if we take this route again, it proves player power still rules the roost at the club. Our coach shouldn't be picked on his likeability, but his talent and ability to improve us. So far Grix is yet to win a game, our attack hasn't improved, the defence has improved marginally, but still not good enough, keep him as an assistant for a couple of years to learn under another coach, I don't know if I can take another "well regarded internal assistant" like Agar/Radders that fail to impress on the pitch (and before people say it about the cup wins - a lot of what radders served up was a load of rubbish).

Our attack wont improve much until we get some quality into our backs.
At the moment the only quality attack minded player we have is Walker and we wont see the best of him until we have better players around him.

Still not sure the chase for Rowley is completely done I may well be way off the mark but not a lot made much sense and it was all very similar to how Salford went about Croft & particularly Dupree

I can’t see Grix being the guy for next year as the club need a big change. I think he is doing a good job in the interim and wouldnt be adverse to him taking charge the rest of the season.

Think he’d still be an asset to the coaching staff next season too if/when a new Coach comes in.

Lost a lot of his pace from his first injury at Castleford and was made to look a lot better having Clifford in the team.
has been unlucky with his serious injuries but has a football brain and a decent pass
Lets wait and see how he goes once he gets back to match fitness.
Just like to see him run the ball more

Looking at your ooc list and even allowing for players who’ve gone already or might be released, a million sounds like a lot. You’ve a few ooc, but some are the younger and presumably cheaper / outside the 25 ones.

Woolf, Holbrook and Maguire… Saints and Wigan. That’s a different type of SL.

cant blame grix for our poor attack,as as been said we have hardly any players with any creativity.we dont have 1 decent ball playing foreward.the likes of fash, brown, cator and lane apart from being too small add nothing to our attack, they create nothing.in the backs walker is good, but the threequarters are mainly slow with no real flair.trueman does need a 7 of cliffords quality alongside him.they were working well together last season until truemans injury.we are also sadly lacking at 9.houghtons about finished and we have not replaced brown.
