I mean, if it comes with some money and funding for the FIL then it could be a small price to pay. But what the hell does Richie Myler know about been a director of rugby. It’s a ridiculous move and anyone pretending otherwise is in fantasy land.

Remember the jamie peacock episode and he supposedly has business acumen.

Feels a bit of nepotism so the man making the actual decisions can have some impact, which in its self is dangerous but at least you’ve got some finances on board which is never a negative I guess.

Strange times, and I guess you’re in a position when you’ve got not much to lose.

Does any ex-player know what it’s like being a DOR and as for Peacock..couldn’t give a monkeys about him not doing it..Did Blease know what he was doing and he has turned out good at it….Lets just see how it goes eh

Lets just give him a chance. To my mind he's better placed to understand players needs and the recruiment process than James Clarke. Myler has considerable contacts in the game at least.

One thought - if he's going to play as well does that mean he negotiates his salary with himself?

And make himself captain for the rest of the season?

Peacock was thick as pig shirt and seemed more interior growing his own business than doing anything for rovers. Myler can't be as bad.

Interesting appointment. Could be great, could be a disaster. Let's hope its the former. No doubt we'll end up signing a few of his former team mates

Problem is he’s not even an ex player. These so called contacts are a myth. A big challenge with that as well is nobody really liked him as a player.

You’ve gained nothing in which you didn’t have with smith bar a reputable character not know for all the things you’d want in a DOR. Some might be comfortable with that knowing a money man comes with, if it was my club I think I could accept that, but to pretend it’s a good appointment on the basis of what he will bring to the role is disingenuous at best. You can’t be that starved of positivity people clutch at these straws.

Your man Tarquin has got it right, all about the money but putting somebody in this position could do more damage than could. All will be revealed I guess

As far as I remember Motu Toney had no experience when he took on the role at Hull. If Myler works out as well as him …. I’ll be happy

Stinks this one given his link to a possible investor
That has to be the worst appointment ever given the job title
Maybe playing seven next week
