Back in the Corner Pin yesterday and an excellent selection of ales available ...

Great Newsome Waste Not Want Not #6 3.8%, an IPA with citrus hints.

Great Newsome Liquorice Lads Stout 4.3%, not in the same league as the brewery's Gem's Stout but pleasant enough and the liquorice isn't overpowering.

Great Newsome Harvest Festivale 4.7%, a copper ale with biscuit and honey flavours, very nice.

Little Critters Nutty Ambassador 6.0%, an always enjoyable coffee and hazelnut milk stout.

A couple of drinks in the Picture Palace, Braintree prior to heading out to Chelmsford races;

St Peters Honey Porter 4.5%, a dark ruby ale with a honey aroma and chocolate, honey and vanilla flavours. Very much to my taste.

Daleside Monkey Wrench 5.3%, a dark chestnut coloured winter warmer with malt and fruit overtones. A familiar taste of Yorkshire in Essex :smile:

Welbeck Abbey Duck Decoy 4.6%, was a pleasant surprise in the Corner Pin yesterday. Badged as a fresh and fragrant USA pale, I expected it to be too floral for my taste but with hints of orange and pear and nice and smooth on the palate, I found it very enjoyable.

Thank God I'm an atheist.

Are you beginning to see the 'light'?

I don't mind the odd one or two. If I'm having golden or pale ales I prefer to have them before getting on to the darker ales.

Terrapin Beer Co. (USA) Naked Bliss 5.0%, brewed at Wadworth Brewery exclusively for Wetherspoons, sampled in the Friar Penketh, Warrington yesterday was a Porter with roasted malt and chocolate, coffee & caramel flavours. Absolutely wonderful, a thing of beauty.

Also very enjoyable was Weetwood Old Dog 4.5%, a bread and caramel flavoured premium bitter, in the Lower Angel.
