where were at ??? : Tue Jan 08, 2019 7:19 pm
Ive started a new thread just so I can see if Most of the bona fide supporters are in the same frame as mind as me as to what the season ahead is shaping up like and what "the Management" are presenting us with. I didnt go last week as I was lucky enough to be iLL, So far this season we have lost about 6 players from last year and replaced them with 2 new ones ?? we have no possitive news of any more new signings a few weeks from start of season. We keep being told that Hull will prop us up all season,,, didnt come to fruition last year did it.. we turned out a poor team last week that was hammered by Hulls youth team,, what was acheived ,,, nothing.. whos going to play this week god knows ??? is it worth paying to see another whupping. I cant see promotion happening this year (or next ) with the state of where were at now, can someone tell me im wrong.

I will make a comment that is I am fully aware a tired old cliche. Time will tell. No more no less because someone will take exception.

Nope. If I hadn't already paid for my season tickets I doubt I would be going to a single game this year and I certainly won't be paying to see these friendlies.

I have had it with being spoon fed BS by the people in charge of our club to the point I am not interested in seeing the games until we see some drastic changes and the club is run with honesty, integrity and realism with regards our on field chances.

Let's see what happens on Sunday.
We do know that without the 5 Hull players, we will try to cadge per week, we are ordinary.
Comes as a shock ... but let's see how it pans out.
4 games into the season will tell us all we want to know.
We could be dancing in the East Stand ...

I’m very concerned about the direction our club is heading. A few weeks out from the season and we have 18 players, around 4 who are injured. We haven’t signed a player for over 3 months. We have relied on DR for the last few seasons and it hasn’t worked. It’s no use having the likes of maloudi available for games vs West Wales but when it’s Workington in the play offs there no where to be seen.

Carl to me seems more interested in other projects than the dons. We haven’t heard a word out of the club for months in regards to recruitment. We currently have no full back, no back up half’s, no spare outside backs and no size in the forwards. We have just been hammered by Hulls youth/reserve team.

The fans deserve an explanation from Carl and the board of what the hell is going on.

They are worrying times at the club, I don't like the one sided nature of the relationship with Hull, I am still waiting to see this great deal we secured in exchange for Liam Harris, our coach is not really ours he's moonlighting with us and his daily focus is with Hull FC.

As I stated in the other thread after Paul Cooke's initial success he wasn't given the budget to push onwards and was forced to rely on DR for players and we have continued to use this model going forwards and unsurprisingly to most it hasn't garnered very much positive for the Dons.

On paper and on the evidence of Sunday we enter the 2019 season weaker than we did the 2018 one, we have lost more players than we have gained and we have become more and more reliant on Hull FC, I stated on the clubs Facebook page that all I want to see is a Doncaster side with players contracted to Doncaster RLFC (perms or loans) so a coach has a fair chance to pick a settled side.

If as posters from Hull have intimated we are going to be "used" to get some first teamers fitness this will mean that while we may have some great players one week they might not be there the next, how can anyone be expected to build a settled side, that gel and have that on field connections that all good sides do, when a centre say will have no idea who is player on his wing is....madness.

For my comments on Facebook I was decried by so called supporters and even received a rather negative private DM via Twitter from our CEO.

I very much hope I am wrong but I cannot see us being able to compete with the likes of Oldham, Workington and Gateshead this year all of which have recruited well and dont look to be reliant on DR, they may utilise DR but its not making up the key areas of the squad which for us that seems to be the case.

Don't forget the Leeds friendly is a Kyle Kesik testimonial ... so come along for his sake.

Exactly that, I didn't intend to go to all the friendlies, it's a lot of money just after christmas and often a debacle. I didn't expect sunday to be that much of a debacle but any ambition to go went when I saw the teams announced.

BUT

This sunday is not just a friendly, it's a chance to thank a player who has stuck with us despite having offers to leave and showed commitment and fantastic work ethic throughout. He is the type of player we are all saying we want, a contracted and committed player. So it's important to recognise that, or we're just saying "we want our own players, but we're not that bothered so mighrt as well get some DR's in"

I feel that we are at the crossroads if we don't get some decent players and get promotion it could be the end of the Dons and professional RL in Doncaster

After last weeks showing and a £15 admission fee i'm sure quite a number of supporters will be put off from attending the game ,which will be a shame given KK service to the Dons.
The reality of this fixture is Leeds academy against a team struggling to field 17 players of their own with a few has- beens thrown in to make the numbers up.

What will the club gain from this?
I want to see the current squad play not a bunch of unfit former players who will be blowing out their ar$e after two minutes.

RH must be very confidant Hull will provide us with players throughout the season as Carl has said numerous times he is happy with our squad , i can only hope this is true because the well of excuses has run well and truely dry.
