After an excellent day in the sun, have to say that the Macron was an excellent venue. Although the pitch was slightly under the 100 metres, the view and leg room etc were excellent and this should definitely be used in the future. It's a pity that not all the fans wanted to watch both games, which meant that it never looked anything like full but, as a neutral, this was a great day of RL. It would always be tough for fans of the side that lost the first game to want to hang around for the second match but, the official attendance was excellent and a great performance by Catalan.
I have to agree, though hard for me, that Macron is an awesome stadium and I thorough enjoyed the facilities on offer yesterday and superb viewing from my seat. I often heard that the RFL could have purchased such a state of the art stadium?

I dont think The RFL should purchase any stadium at the moment. Apart from their current financial position, what size venue would you go for and where would you want it to be situated ??
Yesterdays venue is great for events like yesterday and for some internationals but, would be massively too small for major finals and the bigger international games and what would you do with it for the 360 days a year when it wasn't used for RL.
In the games' current state, it's right to move the games around and try and select the right venue for each particular event, which yesterdays was spot on.

you obviously weren't in the warrington end, where they were huge queues for food and drink, and no food and drink for the huge queues.
Did any of you pay for parking? If so what was the cost? There were lots of rumours flying around pre-match day that historically the ground has charged very high parking fees. Also rumours that there is little/no parking options outside the stadium.
For future reference it would be handy to know the facts should there be future events held there.

Not in the Warrington end and I agree that the service at the bar was shambolic. It's hard to understand why they dont just have staff pouring lager/bitter constantly, rather than dealing with one order at a time. Also, I wondered if they were surprised with the total numbers, hence running out of food, which I think they did after ht in the second game. Mind you, in this respect, it was still better than The Olympic Stadium by some distance.

we parked on the official carpark/shopping centre car park? next door, cost us a tenner.

Thanks for the response. Maybe it is my Yorkshire tendency but I think £10 is a bit steep and more like football prices. Fiver would be more acceptable.
The road network struggled to cope seeing as that was the only viable option of getting to the game yesterday. Well played to Network Rail, who decided that it would be a good option to run no trains into Horwich Parkway.

the former Reebok stadium is a great stadium, but so is the Olympic stadium, been there for RL And athletics world championships and the atmosphere at the athletics was superb. the England NZ game there a few years ago was a dire affair crap crowd even crapper game not only the worst international RL game i have ever been to but one of the worst games i have ever been to. think RL fans and an allergy to grounds with a track around them, its A lot more common in the states and Europe, must be the Don valley stadium syndrome, and awful stadium for athletics never mind any other sport.
