New Stand : Sun Dec 09, 2018 7:00 pm
Just read an interview with the Ealing DoR. He states that the ground work for the new stand has just begun.

"It’s not the only proactive step the club are taking, however, with their stadium situation, Vallis Way’s capacity of 3,000, often the elephant in the room when talking about Ealing as a potential Premiership club, but work is underway to change that.

“They’ve just started laying the groundworks for a new stand this week. That’ll be at the far end of the pitch and should take the capacity to five or six thousand. There are options to expand that further, as well, and for us that would be the dream, but we also know that if we were to go to the Premiership this season, we would have another option available to us.”

Don’t tell dog! Can’t be happening no permission from the council! :D :D
Good to hear work has started, hope it’s goingto be a covered structure.

Was playing there yesterday noticed a couple of workmen but nothing else. I started talking to an Ealing player he said the chairman is 81 and wants to see premiership rugby before he dies. He intends to build another stand on the second pitch to bring it up to 10000.

The premiership lot in union seem to want to form a closed competition by getting rid of P&R. This means Ealing will never get promoted if that happens and will be interesting to see if this ring-fencing will happen- https://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union ... idea-will/

That is still quite up in the air. Even if it does go ahead, there is much talk that it would not end P&R. They would do some kind of cycle (every 3/5 years a team (s) could come up. I think this has a long way to run just yet.

Some one is stirring the pot but a good question. Is it all standing or all seating or a bit of each, is it covered or uncovered. I ask because the fans seem to have more information than the club

Happens every season usually the chairman of the club in the relegation spot

JESUS WEPT :WALL: HOW MANY TIMES?????
£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

A link to the article/interview would be good.

A glance at the Ealing council website (https://pam.ealing.gov.uk/online-applications/simpleSearchResults.do?action=firstPage shows no planning application lodged since may 2018 and that was for floodlights....the previous application for a pavilion/creche {https://pam.ealing.gov.uk/online-applications/files/5E1C120E2744AC612128A330E374C1D0/pdf/173488FUL-3802-P720_ELEVATIONS_2_-2275240.pdf} isn't a stand either, so I am unsure of exactly how they have started work and have no doubt that they will stop once the first of many complaints arise.

Maybe they're going to retrospectively apply, but without planning consent, there will be no fire or safety certification, insurance or anything else that will allow the public to use it.
