It's been a long dream of the Barbarians to organise the First ever International Tag rugby Game between The English and The Welsh. We have two teams in Wales and they are both growing incredibly fast. As we already know there are well established teams in england with a long history in the sport.

We are hoping that at the end of this season or next season we could possibly get an internation between the two sides. Competing for The pride of their respective nations. Either in England or Wales.

Do you think that this is a plausible idea, and would you be interested in achieving this? Possibly leading to a regular fixture between the nations. This can only benefit the game, the players involved and it will be a massive, massive! boost to the advertising and promotion of the game. Of course it would take a larger effort of organising for you guys considering the amount of teams that you have. But i believe it would only increase interest for the sport.

awesum idea maybe get on to the rfl and see if we could get it for the day of england v wales international and have it as a curtain raiser!

I have the same ambition, can you bring it to the table on the 27th Feb. Scotland are also interested in a Tri-Nation series.

I personally will not be at the meeting on the 27th, but i know there will be 3 representatives from the barbarians going up there, I have already told them to bring it up in the meeting. We have also been flirting with the idea of maybe contacting OZ tag, the irish and the scottish for an international game.

For the fixture date we are pretty flexible. To be a curtain raiser for an international game would be huge. The only other idea's we have come to at the moment are the rochdale tourniment, where nearly all teams will be present no???

This is something the Swarm could work with those at our Festival as there is a good chance we will have 8 nations represented on the weekend.

Sunday morning would fit around what we already have planned.

Will speak with Tom Allen about how best to progress it.

Both welsh teams will already be at the tourni anyhow, it could be advertised as the main event for the sunday. I'm sure You would get allot of support up with you lot. Us and the Heiffers are really excited about there possibly being a game.

As it stands we will have on the Saturday at least.

A Fijian Rep side, all who came last year.

We have had an enquiry from France alongside the KiwiTag mentioned before.
The Try Tag Rugby guys are coming and in the conversation with them they are looking at bringing two teams, we hope they bring the London Kiwi`s and the London Australia teams that played recently. Will know nearer the time. At worst they would have an Anzacs side. Also coming are the Halton Womens team who had Esene Faimalo last year so another for the Kiwi ranks.

A lot will depend on transport, when teams have to go back etc.
We are having a planning meeting soon so will discuss at that.

So it looks like there will be problems getting to the meeting. So what are we going to do about the international idea?

Us down here in wales are very much up for this, We are game whenever and Wherever you want to play. Would the rochdale tournie be the best date? Do you want to do it at the end of this year, maybe next year? We need to know now.

As said, we have got everything in place down here, so it would be up to you to get a team together by selecting the right players and whatnot. We would like to insist on a rule that a player playing for his country would of have to played at least 1 year for their respective tag team
