An irrelevance, he and I worked for someone else.
You said
"you'll never get rich working for someone else!"

I never worked in the banking industry and don't have a private pension.

so you've retired as a drain on the state?

depends on your definition of rich I guess, how many kids have the rest of us supported through college etc.?

retired at 50 with no private pension, that is just bull shine.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

I can't remember something that I didn't know. So, apologies to peggy (if required)

No apologies required.

Whilst I sometimes agree with your points I do wish you would have a little more understanding for others, maybe a little humility and perhaps try not to jump down the throats of those you deem beneath you. Not everybody claiming benefits are a drain on the state, some are I agree but the % is miniscule.

I count myself lucky that I can walk and breathe unassisted looking back at many others in the situation I was in don't they have that. Think of yourself as lucky I am sure you will find happiness instead of the jealousy and bitterness you display.

I have retired, I am 50 but I don't require or claim a penny off the State. The spinal unit I resided at for quite a long time completed documents for me that gave me Disability Ben for a couple of years, at the same time I set up a direct debit to direct the payment to a local hospice for terminally ill kids, the DD for the same value remains to this day even though I am no longer in receipt of the Disability Ben. I continued to work for four years after my paralysis (I now walk but have no sensation) visiting clients in my wheelchair, my wife drove me to appointments, catheterising me so I didn't mickey myself in front of my clients and prospects.

Anyway it is France and Greece for 9 months of the year then back home to the UK for 3 months, I can tell you running three properties without a private pension is a bloody nightmare. Do you think I can get housing benefit?

You're an inspiration, mainly because of your wine knowledge, but also because of the way you've tackled life.

You're welcome in my house for a glass anytime, I'll crack open the Winston Churchill.

I switched my energy supply to them a few months ago, and to be honest there is almost no difference in terms of what I was paying with Scottish power and what I'm paying now, I was going to get my broadband with them but they couldn't provide their fibre optic BB in my are so I stayed with Virgin. It all sounds great but really the reality of it isn't that great.

He breathes out CO2, which helps the trees.

I'm with them, Dad was with them when I moved out so Dad claimed the .5% decrease in his bill.

Reasonably priced although their budget plans are a little excessive (aren't they all?). Had a decent fight with customer services as they wanted to put my plan up by about 300% to make up the shortfall on the electric payments.

Armed with spreadsheets and full detail of meter readings/estimates I got them to back down to about 20% (which is what it should be).

Just done a Uswitch search and they can save me about £50 a year - is it worth the hassle?

Jealous and bitter? nope.

As I say, I didn't know your situation (and why would I?) so apologies for any offence.

What caused your paralysis?
