Viewing extreme pornographic material and bestiality was made illegal a few years ago.

It wouldn't surprise me if the politicians jump on this one and start campaigning to make beheading videos and the like illegal. Especially with an election just around the corner (in political terms).

Re: Beheading videos : Wed Oct 23, 2013 6:14 pm
One was 'shared' by one of my facebook friends last night, also in Mexico, involving a chainsaw to the neck. Pretty barbaric. Of course I didn't have to watch it but I'm guessing that all of his other facebook friends would have been able to see it too, including kids. It's a good idea for FB to ban these videos so nobody can see them inadvertently.

After you have explained that one, maybe you can then explain why the site is a "messenger". Random people across the globe choose to make millions of random videos and upload them. If anyone has a message it is surely the people uploading the videos. If not, then what is the messenger's "message" attached to beheading videos?

Then maybe you could explain to me why you accused me of choosing not to condemn the beheaders, when I said in simple enough terms : "Who needs to first watch the video of some maniac carving the head off a woman, before "making up their mind" to condemn such behaviour?"

No. I never mentioned U, S or A in any shape or form. It may have escaped your notice, but the social network site in question is a commercial company, not a sovereign nation.

So your post is about as epic a fail as would have been possible. Well done.

Bless.

My observations were in response to La Mintball's final paragraph in her preceeding post, in which she managed to crowbar in a reference to her bete noire, the US of A. In my reply and general thoughts, I assumed that anyone with basic comprehension skills would have the intelligence to understand that, without the need to Quote. She certainly did, but you as per appear a tad lacking.

I trust that has helped calm you down, as I was pleasantly surprised to read your OP.

Freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice.
Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality.

Your observations "managed to crowbar in a reference" to your own bete noir, Islam ... an irrelevance to this story.
Hence your own prowess in "basic comprehension skills" and "intelligence to understand" appears "a tad lacking".

Oh, BTW, Facebook was founded by created by Mark Zuckerberg, an American citizen, in Massachusetts USA and is headquartered in California USA.

Do keep up Mintball. Perhaps you should google the adjective "ethnic," then you may have a clearer understanding......something along the lines of shared origins / social backgrounds/ culture/ traditions and a common religion.

And as I have not the remotest interest in watching someone getting beheaded, be it by a swarthy chap in Mexico, or indeed in more traditional and well publicised areas of the World,..... I'll pass.

I prefer to trust a proper dictionary:

Concise Oxford: ethnic a. & n. 1. a. pertaining to race, ethnological, whence ethnicITY n.; (arch.) gentile, heathen; of a specified racial, linguistic etc group.

Google is simplistic to the point of confusion, citing "racial, race-related" as synonyms, which leaves it as a contradiction if 'ethnic' has a wide enough definition to include 'culture' etc.

Re: Beheading videos : Thu Oct 24, 2013 9:47 am
This video on facebook is one or two of something that is starting to become a sick and unfortunately popular hobby of both the cartels and supposedly state sponsored hitsquads supposedly trying to 'fight back'.

If you were that way inclined you could find hundreds of videos on line of people not only being beheaded but also disemboweled, hung from bridges by noth their necks and internal organs, people slowly hacked to death and for the 'luckier' victim a bullet to the head.

This started a few years ago with a government crack down on the cartels that unfortunately has breed a secret civil war within the country.
Intially this was a war between catrel members and government paid officials/politicians/police.

Now though cartels are fighting officials, police other cartel groups and now they've started to target the simple user, if you're caught buying a simple bag of weed or a bit of coke for the weekend and seen to be buying it from someone other than your supplier you'll be executed.
Another sad state of affairs is the cartels will then under threat of beheading ask you to give out family addresses, kill the family of the user and then the user homself after they've made a video of him apologising to the cartel boss for using someone else. Then they film the execution.

Life had become so incredibly cheap in Mexico right now and it's almost like a sick competition to see who can post the most brutal execution online. If you've been infortunate enough to see thr facebook beheading count yourself lucky that this is, believe it or not one of the most least shocking videos of the cartels.

Attempting to patronise and going ad hominem really is the refuge of the witless.

However, you can't get off the hook.

1. Your reference to "ethnic nutters" and "Allah Akbar" was certainly not in response to Mintball. You gratuitously introduced islamic fundamentalism. I asked " why members of a Mexican drugs cartel would be chanting the mantra 'Allah Akbar'" . You may think you got away with not answering the question by deflection, but you didn't.

2. Ditto my question as to WHY the site is, in your view, a "messenger"; and what you would say its message is. I presume you can't think of what to put.

3. During your little outburst, you made an observation about something provoking some purported reaction "amongst intelligent people". Now, my comprehension skills, if limited, still seem to outstrip yours, as "people" is a reference to more than one person and thus incompatible with your claim to have been responding to Mintball alone, since she is not plural.

It seems you are seething at being shown up, (not just by me) but it's embarrassing for you to try to attribute your own annoyance by proxy; if I had to pick a phrase to describe how I was feeling, it would be "mild amusement", and my phrase for you would be "must try harder".
