So you have no problem with British citizens fighting as foreign combatants in unlawfully held territories?
Says much about you and your double standards
I have no problem with that at all. It's their life, they can do with it what they wish. If you believe strongly enough in a cause, go and live or die as you will. Whether I agree with the legality or indeed morality of their cause is another matter.
What I do have a big problem with is when those British citizens then go on record promising to bomb polling stations, of "wreaking havoc" in the UK, of the black flag of Islam flying over London, 9/11-style attacks and a "killing spree" of British citizens.
It would be easy to mock and dismiss these comments if those British citizens weren't already armed and engaging in beheadings, mass murder of POWs and civilians and other atrocities in the name of their 'Caliphate' - a word which sends a clear message in itself. A group so dangerous and depraved that Al-Qaeda disowned them and suddenly Iraq, Iran, Syria, the Kurds and the West find themselves on the same side.
Fact is, ISIS/ISIL/IS will be spanked back to the stone ages eventually so perhaps we won't need to worry about our renegade Brits for too much longer. Even if the Iraqis fail, Iran and Syria won't allow them to gain too much power and territory, and neither will the West.
