Anyone seen what they've started doing with Playstation Plus now? Join up and you get 12 free games to download straight away and you get to keep them for as long as your subscription runs out. I didn't download them all as I aren't interested in them all and I don't have much memory left on my PS3 but got Infamous 2, Virtua Fighter 5, Oddworld: Strangers Wrath, Motorstorm: Apocalypse and Littlebigplanet 2!
Yeah a great deal for PS Plus subscribers. It was already a great deal, now even more so.
The Wii U pad just seems like a massive gimmick to me. The console supports the use of two, but they have confirmed that games will only run at 30fps if two tablets are used. Wtf?! It also seemed a little silly to me the way that they spent so much time on Arkham City - a game most people have already played last year. Again the use of the tablet just seemed like a gimmick, you could do everything the tablet did on the original version by just using a few menus.
All in all it seemed like a subdued E3 from both Microsoft and Sony. The lack of new IPs is a bit depressing imo, out of the whole expo there are only really two new IPs that I can think of, everything else is a sequel.

Clearly the calm before the storm. I liked Microsoft's presentation, you can see the direction they are headed in. The next Xbox will pick up the Kinect (Upgraded and part of the console package), Smartglass, Music, Movies stuff seamlessly one would expect.
I'd say the big IPs are being held back for the next generation. This generation is done IMO and needs to be replaced. There has been very little new over the last 12 months and I doubt there will be over the next 12 months either.

Classic Nintendo. The Wii was a mess, terrible cheapo hardware, appalling software, terrible 3rd party support, poor media capabilities and ridiculously poor online services. Yet it was a commercial smash hit, with there now being a Wii in 97% of the cupboards under the UK's stairs.
Some good things from E3 but on the whole it was a let down.
No new consoles, no GTA V, meh.
Xbox 3 hopefully next year, I would bet that PS4 won't be out before Xbox 3.
Classic Rockstar though they won't show anything. I remember when GTA 4 came out, nobody saw any gameplay footage until the game was actually released.
Only game I'm looking forward to from E3 is Assassins Creed 3, look quality!
Which is a shame because the games still aren't even getting the PS3 to 60% capacity, never mind 100% like a lot of games on the 360 have been.
The problem with the next consoles, if rumours are to be believed is at launch they will already be a year (at least) behind a PC in terms of graphics because the new Xbox is supposedly having a current GPU in it...when the new ones are due out again around Christmas time.
Another problem is if the no discs and every game has to be downloaded thing is true, that would be a terrible move, just look at how much they try charging for games on PSN compared to Amazon etc.
But there is good news! ( ) Infinity Ward have been advertising for developer jobs to work on a game for the new consoles...Modern Warfare 4 as a launch title anybody?

Consoles will always be behind PC in terms of graphics, simply because they are a third of the price.
The no discs thing is inevitable IMO. It cuts the second hand market out of the loop entirely, which is threatening to destroy the industry at present. The last thing I heard was the games would still be sold in stores, but instead of buying a physical product, you bought a voucher code that enables the download, enabling gaming to keep a presence on the high street whilst preventing people recycling games and denying the developers money.
What rumours have you heard about the new Xbox? MS have repeatedly insisted it will be released in 2015 and if that's true, they won't be finalising hardware for another year I'd say. Sony surely won't develop another Playstation at the moment given how much money they are losing. I know the PS4 is rumoured to be out next year, but it's not likely given they lost £4bn this year.

I've heard it'll be out the back end of 2013. I've also heard 2014 mentioned.

You could get a PC that easily outperforms a 360 or PS3 for £250-300.
The 'current-gen' consoles are so far behind current PC tech it's not even funny.
