I'd insist that you utilise one of those foam thingies the ladies use when they're painting their toe nails. That'll put paid to any unauthorised finger crossing.

I merely see trousers as a much more functional garment for the 21st century.

Indeed so.
At a Christmas do one year, I was introduced to a guy with the same surname as mine.
He was wearing a kilt and and he informed me that I, too, was entitled to wear that tartan.
I informed him gently that I wore whatever I chose and that "entitlement" played no part in that choice.
