Absolutely. There's really not that much of a divide in terms of some attitudes. You see it time and again.
Only last week after a report somewhere on the Hollande business, some woman (American, I think) was shrilling away about 'we poor, put-upon women' (IIRC, she actually also said: "We [women] have enough of a burden to bear"), but she then went on to suggest that adulterous males have their "bits" cut off. In public.
It's completely extremist. It also conveniently dodges the idea that a woman ever has an affair – it's the men who are to blame entirely. And to an extent, that's a mirror or the extremist Islamic view that the woman has to cover up so as not to tempt the man – a view that then sees a woman somewhere like Saudi Arabia being punished if she dares to report as rape.
TBF, such people don't go out and act according to what they say, but you sometimes wonder whether that's simply because they don't live in a society where they could expect to get away with it.
