Farts are much misunderstood. People used to pay money to watch a performer whose act was about farting.

Whilst they probably wouldn't let him on BGT, I'm betting people still would today.

Across the globe, what else produces more happiness in the form of levity and general amusement than farts?

At some basic, universal, fundamental human level, somebody letting one rip is even funnier than all but the best pratfalls.

Long live the fart. Pfffffft.

The noble art of flatulism, as personified by Leonard Rossiter in his biopic of Joseph Pujol, more commonly known as Le Petomane. There used to be competitions in French music halls, with good prizes for the winners. I watched the Italian film on Petomane quite a lot of years ago.
Was quite an amusing movie to be fair.
