So let’s say approx. 220 backbenchers. Fewer than 1 in 4 of them need to submit a letter of no confidence. Or put another way, are there really more than 160 of them who are so docile, so lacking in integrity and even a sense of political self-preservation that they’ll go to the wall for a ‘man’ who basically despises them as nomarks (as he does nearly everybody, in fairness).
