If you need 100 pieces but are supplied with only 99 you have a problem so regardless of the total supplied it does not meet the demand therefore they put the NHS staff at risk.

You have no idea about my outlook on life

Supplies to run out within hours, so NHS to change advice to tell them to wear aprons when they have run out of gowns.

I wonder at what point the deniers will stop embarrassing themselves, I wonder if the deniers are the same ones who were telling us early on that it was no worse than the flu and claiming that it was all media hype.

So what's your solution? You whinge and condemn and criticise and post your smug comments in either wilful or genuine ignorance of the global situation - I'm still not quite sure which.

Bearing in mind the massive ongoing upsurge in global demand from nations and the general public, leading to a global shortage, and the fact many of the main PPE producers were not only in lockdown, they also blocked PPE exports (China, India, South Korea, Japan and others). Put simply - the ENTIRE WORLD suddenly wants PPE by the billion, but suddenly the main producing countries aren't selling it - or have reduced exports massively.

Then take into account the massive upsurge in distribution demand in the UK on a network that simply couldn't cope in terms of volume and pace of demand, even with an existing pandemic stockpile - hence the army and people such as Amazon Logistics coming in to help.

You know one of the reasons gowns are in short supply? Stock was ordered weeks ago, but when it arrived a load had been mislabelled and actually contained masks. To compound this, many of the gowns then failed safety tests. Guess where they came from - yep, China. All ignored by the left, who just blame NHS procurement and the government.

Appeals have already gone out to UK companies to help bridge the shortfall. Further orders have been placed. Everyone is doing their very best but the simple truth is in a global pandemic emergency there are going to be shortages. I'm sorry if you can't handle that unpleasant truth, but there it is.

So what would you have done to secure PPE equipment that NHS procurement and the government haven't done? I'm sure you're full of brilliant ideas...

Oh shut up. 10 days ago I was on here saying the government should have been getting British based clothing companies making PPE and guess what they have now started asking Burberry to do it. I posted that 10 days ago and thought about it weeks ago.

If I thought of it surely the government should have. The reason they didn’t is because they thought herd immunity was the way to go. Then when they realised it would be too unpopular changed tack.

Whether you like the government or not it is clear that at every point they have been behind where they should have been in decision making.

The worst thing is that when you add on to the death rates with announced deaths in hospitals with community deaths and those in care home s there is a good chance we exceed Italy. Now that is shocking as we had at least two weeks notice of what was coming.

Shut up?

I think you're better just ignoring facts as you usually do, rather than reading them and replying "oh shut up".

The concept of herd immunity has nothing to do with the provision of PPE. What a phenomenally stupid suggestion.

Oh we all know you suggested Burberry get involved, you haven't stopped banging on about it like no-one else on the feckin planet had considered it. I hate to burst your bubble but they've been doing it for weeks, as have thousands of other companies across the country, and millions across the globe. Why? Because PPE is in short supply across the planet.

A sobering measure from the ONS.
https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulation ... ges/deaths

In the week ending 3 April more than 20% of all registered deaths in England and Wales mentioned novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In London it was nearly half of all registered deaths.

The concept of herd immunity has got everything to do with the lack of government preparation. Which would include not preparing for PPE, respirators and testing.

All of which we heard or still hear on a daily basis were not ready for.
