Far more death and destruction caused by the hard left than ever caused by the hard right. Mao killed more of his people than were killed in WW1 & WW2 combined. Add to that Stalin/Lenin and the despot leaders in the old Soviet block the list is a long one.

Yet, here we are and Boris Johnson is still Prime Minister. Stupidity, selfishness and dishonesty are not always major barriers to political success. Trump and Johnson have made them assets though, finding a following among a surprisingly large demographic who admire and revel in their vices, and call it patriotism.
