We don't need hundreds of thousands of migrants, there are too many foreign nationals in jobs whilst there are brits in the dole queue or stuck in the benefits system. There shouldn't be a single foreign national receiving Universal Credit etc. IMHO.

There is a huge skills shortage in the construction industry. It is estimated 28% of construction workers in London are foreign. Why do you think that is? Who is going to replace them?

Because various governments haven't invested in apprenticeships, the welfare state allows people who are perfectly able to work to choose not to and foreigners work for less money.

Great way to run a business…

If their is an individual/s in this country that unfortunately finds themselves out of work with the right experience and qualifications to do the job then why not.

True
Largely rubbish
You get what you pay for

I'll ask again. Who is going to replace them?

Just explain what you would put on your advert, that allows you to discriminate, without being discriminatory, or should we scrap those laws ?
I love the simple black and white world that some people live in.

Are you going to allow anyone to apply for your hypothetical jobs and then just decide on who turns up for interview or will you prevent "foreigners" from applying in the first place. Something like "British Nationals Only Need Apply" or do you want to have some kind of apartheid system ?

Tbf, a Visa system could be (and currently is) used to restrict employment rights.

The bigger issue imo is that in some sectors we are currently very reliant on labour from overseas. Which mightn't be ideal, but also won't be easy to fix quickly.

Some of those are not skills shortages either, it's putting up with the stress of the job. It's becoming an epidemic.

What on earth are you on about, have you got some sort of massive chip on your shoulder, you was referring to people who wanted to leave the EU as Turkeys yesterday

I would advertise in the usual way, which I have done on many occasions, I have also employed individuals that were originally from overseas but have settled in this country and have unfortunately found themselves out of work and on the social. What is so wrong with that. When the applications came to me for shortlisting I only got the parts of the application that was relevant to the job.

I am well aware that things are not black and white, I was a Construction Project Manager for 25 years and had to go through the European tender process on my occasions because in the real world things are not black and white.

Apart from in MGarbutt's world maybe?

Anywho, leaving aside the asinine ranting of a gammon xenophobe - I really don't understand how the immigration argument is still getting any bandwidth; the actual facts have proven that EU migrants are net contributors to the economy, and that we need them in significant numbers in quite a few sectors - not least health and social care, food production and hospitality.

Labour's plan, with a bit of fine-tuning, remains the only viable option at this stage, for anyone who doesn't have suicidal tendencies; it's the least damaging form of Brexit, doesn't run into all the problems that May's red lines have created, and allows all the MP's from Leave constituencies to say, "look - we done a Brexit." If Katie Hopkins, MGarbutt and some red-faced football hooligans are angry about it, I'm sure we'll manage.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

So if we crash out with no deal - is a border suddenly going to emerge in Ireland on the 30/3? - who is going to build it!!
