The review scores for Bioshock Infinite are starting to filter through, and they are crazy high. It's currently sat with a metacritic score of 95, which would make it one of the highest ranked games in years if it stays that way.
I wasn't really taking much of an interest in it up until this point, but rave reviews across the board cannot be ignored. Just picked it up, looking forward to getting stuck in this evening at some point.
They always do. Wait 'til the people who play the game for months on end start to pick it apart. Holes will surely appear. I thought the other ones were naff, despite the ridiculous hype around them.

Naff? I didn't like the previous games, the vibe and atmosphere freaked me out a bit, especially the rabbit style guys, but there is no denying the quality of them. The new one looks more of an out and out shooter from the gameplay videos I've seen, but again the quality of it looks really good. It's clearly a triple A game.

It really isn't me. I watched a mate of mine play through both of them and really wasn't taken in by any of it. For me it's the epitome of the modern game (alongside games like Infamous and Deus-Ex).
The new Gears is alright, if a little bit short. Some good ideas, including each section having a 'declassify' option, where it changes how the level plays out, for example it could mean massively-reduced visibility due to dust or smoke grenades, or being forced to use only a certain type of weapon. There's also a short, playable story of what Baird and Cole were upto while you were finishing Gears 3 in their absence. Worth a playthrough if you like the Gears franchise
