I think that you are wrong to say "they'd sit there and rot".
If, for instance, the UK takes large numbers of doctors/surgeons from another country to fill the void within the NHS, it'snot as though there are 100's of fully trained medics sat at home, waiting fo the phone to ring so they may become employed.
These people may wish to "better themselves" and happily move to another country to improve their personal situation but, it can leave a void in their "home" country.
Although it would be wrong to prevent people "getting on", it is also wrong to bleed poorer nations of their resources.

Mind you in the modern dog eat dog world, looking after number one does seem to be the order of the day and to hell with the rest.

I'm not sure that Trump knew what he meant by saying that or, that it was America's Independence Day.
They certainly got a result against all odds but, they haven't gained any independence and they haven't made an exit from anywhere.

I wonder which of the worlds "crazy's" will be the first to test him ?

Unlike Farage, this guy cant just disappear into the background and then blame others for the situation that he is now in.

At least it wont be dull.
