Blue Peter was never the same after Christopher Trace left - he used to get the train set out regularly. For me it's best period was when John Noakes first started alongside Trace and Valerie Singleton.

Loved John Noakes - he was like your bonkers Uncle who would do things your parents would roll their eyes at; some of what they had him do on Blue Peter would cause modern H&S bods a blue fit. And he did love that bloody dog.
