[quote="IR80"]So Labour and the Conservatives are double dealimg, self serving.
I think the problem with almost all politicians and people in power is that, eventually they will become self serving.

Indeed. Here's your man Boris Johnson on Gordon Brown's succession:

“It’s the arrogance. It’s the contempt. That’s what gets me. It’s Gordon Brown’s apparent belief that he can just trample on the democratic will of the British people. It’s at moments like this that I think the political world has gone mad, and I am alone in detecting the gigantic fraud.”

<snip>

“They voted for Anthony Charles Lynton Blair to serve as their leader. They were at no stage invited to vote on whether Gordon Brown should be PM… They voted for Tony, and yet they now get Gordon, and a transition about as democratically proper as the transition from Claudius to Nero. It is a scandal. Why are we all conniving in this stitch-up? This is nothing less than a palace coup… with North Korean servility, the Labour Party has handed power over to the brooding Scottish power-maniac.”

<snip>

“The extraordinary thing is that it looks as though he will now be in 10 Downing Street for three years, and without a mandate from the British people. No one elected Gordon Brown as Prime Minister…”

<snip>

“Gordon Brown could appease public indignation over that, and secure the democratic mandate he needs, by asking the public to vote at once on him, on the new EU treaty, and on the implications of the devolutionary settlement. Let’s have an election without delay.”

It's a delicious irony of attempts to rehabilitate the odious Boris Johnson, that in a long career as a shock-jock columnist, with a firm belief in his own comedic genius, pretty much all of his rancid opinions went to press, so he can never escape from them.

Very true, Boris Johnson is a complete hypocrite unless he calls a general election very soon.

By the same token so are labour politicians using the change in leadership to call for one.

I know that has become the accepted mantra but I don't think that is true. There are numerous dedicated MPs working away for their constituents who do not get the limelight because that is just what they are doing. It is their full time job, taking the away from their families for large amounts of time, without highly paid occasional other jobs. Jo Cox was a great example, I'm sure only the likes of Garbutt would class her as self-serving.

By all accounts, his father, Stanley, is a cheating scoundrel, guilty of multiple extra-marital affairs. Like father, like son, aye? The apple never falls far from the tree. Don't be suckered in by Stanley's media persona which was fabricated in I'm a Celebrity... and continues to be fabricated as they pair him up with some young sort from Made in Chelsea, like they're best buddies. It's all an act to normalise him. Just like Boris is an act to make him appear as your mate, when in reality, he'd have you in the workhouse 12 hours a day until you're 80. But you keep licking the Johnson's boots. There's a good serf.

Firstly, I genuinely hope you get over the bitterness you hold.
Secondly, what does anyones PRIVATE life count

You hate commerce, professionalism and achievement, obvious envy.

ABdPB has said ‘**** business’, was sacked from his first job as a journalist for making up a quote (that led his own godfather complaining about him), and is most famous for being a shambling, dishevelled, dishonest former member of the University of Oxford’s spoilt gormless vandal club.

Then there is his use, this century, of terms like ‘watermelon smiles’ and ‘flag waving piccaninnies’ to describe Africans.

Do you regard him more or less highly than KSC? I don’t know KSC, but I imagine he’d make a better prime minister. See also, Zippy from Rainbow, my 5-year old grandniece (who is at least cute), and the singer with the moustache from the Go Compare adverts.

It's a little know fact that Zippy was a strong supporter of the Democratic Socialist movement, and had some interesting ideas about the inevitable failure of the capitalist system; so powerful was his conviction, that on the set of Rainbow, many people referred to him as 'Comrade Zippy.'

How much of Boris' spending pledges should we believe, they guy is doing just as he did during the Brexit campaign and telling the voting public what they want to hear, without any sense of reality or likelihood that it will happen.
I quite like his plan for the Leeds - Manchester rail link but, if our country wasn't so London centric, this should/would have happened before any thought's of HS2.
The same "idiots" that believed him firs time round will probably fall for it again.
The people of Sunderland saying that they intend to vote for him is scary.
