Have you also decided to never step foot in a super market ever again? After all they are killing local butchers, green grocers etc. What about other shopping such as electricals? Have you decided not to buy online and instead buy from the high street?

Get all my meat from local butchers, most fruit and veg from farmers market.

Cheese from local cheese company.

Getting a new fridge was a cooker though.

Local electrician knocked me one up from a couple of old headboards and cardboard for insulation.

The difference, FWIW, is that Amazon operates in an area that is almost entirely unregulated. Their tactics would have been investigated by anti-trust and competition authorities had they been a conventional retailer.

This will be another huge issue in a US-UK trade deal.

Digital platforms need some serious regulation. The Americans will likely block the UK from taking forward any plans that would involve regulating US tech giants.

Unless Elizabeth Warren becomes President, in which case the Americans will be putting serious regulation on them and force the UK to do the same.

That would actually be quite amusing, to see Boris and his cronies have to parrot the policies given by a radical Democrat President, in order to secure a trade deal.

By British standards Warren wouldn't be particularly radical.

On competition law she would - she's talking about reversing the burden of proof so that firms that are merging need to prove that they won't cause harm (which will mean hardly any mergers go through), and also breaking up big digital tech firms. This would be far more radical than anything the UK has ever thought about, and would be hugely significant to the world economy.

So if Warren gets the nomination expect a major lobbying campaign against her to make sure Trump wins.
